Legendary Southern songbird Emmylou Harris will be hitting the road this summer for a North American tour.
Harris has already done some touring this year, first with Patty Griffin, Shawn Colvin and Buddy Miller in January, and a month later as a headliner on the 2008 Cayamo Cruise. Her summer tour will be in support of her upcoming album, All I Intended To Be, due out June 10 on Nonesuch Records.
for tickets go to www.tixx.com
The new record is Harris’ first solo release since 2003’s Stumble Into Grace. The singer/songwriter recorded the new album over a four-year period with her longtime producer Brian Ahern at his studio in Nashville. All I Intended To Be will contain both original material and some of Harris’ all-time favorite songs, featuring guest vocals by Dolly Parton, Vince Gill and Buddy Miller.
In addition to preparing for the new album’s release, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday. Country Music Association CEO Tammy Genovese said, "Harris possesses the voice of an angel. She is one of the most revered song interpreters on the planet, and has been instrumental in preserving country music’s past while expanding country music’s horizons throughout her career." We couldn’t agree more.
Harris’ summer tour kicks off May 23 in Monterey, Calif., and will also feature Jimmy Gaudreau and Moondi Klein.

Jimmy Buffett continues to add wind to tour sails
April 18, 2008 04:04 AM
Jimmy Buffett [ tickets ] has added some new dates to his imminent "Year of Still Here" tour, extending the trek into fall with a pair of October shows. The veteran singer/songwriter tacked the pair of warm-weather concerts--both in California--onto the very end of his current trek, which gets underway April 21 in Woodlands, TX. All dates are below for the 21-city tour.
As previously reported, he'll also be a headliner at this August's Newport Folk Festival in Newport, RI.
Buffett continues to support his latest studio effort, 2006's country-leaning "Take the Weather With You," which became his second consecutive No. 1 debut on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart.
The performer also released a pair of live recordings last year: November's "Live in Anguilla," which captures two recent shows on the Caribbean island, and April's "Live at Texas Stadium," which revisits Buffett's 2004 Dallas concert with Alan Jackson and George Strait. The trio's cover of Hank Williams' "Hey Good Lookin'" from the latter set netted Buffett his second career Country Music Awards nomination in the Event of the Year category.
The leader of the Parrotheads continues to stay busy with several other endeavors, including a new restaurant under construction in Waikiki, HI; a foray into the casino business in Biloxi, MS; and a new book, "Swine Not?," which is due in May.

Neil Diamond Unveils Summer Tour Plans
Neil Diamond tickets are on sale at Tixx.com
April 15, 2008, 1:20 PM ET
Ray Waddell, Nashville and Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Neil Diamond will begin a 37-city North American tour, promoted nationally by AEG Live, on July 19 in St. Paul, Minn. Tickets go on sale in some markets beginning April 28, preceded by an American Express presale.
Last Tuesday, Diamond announced he'd be going back on the road via a surprise televised appearance on the scoreboard at Boston's Fenway Park. He will perform at the stadium, where his "Sweet Caroline" has become an eighth-inning sing-a-long during Red Sox games, on Aug. 23.
Diamond will perform songs from throughout his career as well as track from his Rick Rubin-produced new album, "Home Before Dark," due May 6 via Columbia. The artist just completed several weeks of rehearsal with his touring band over the weekend and tells Billboard.com he can't wait to get back on stage.
"I always like to include songs I haven't done in the show in awhile," he says, declining to reveal specifics so as to not give away any set list surprises. "We just took out one of the songs we'd been using in the show as part of the rehearsals and replaced it with something that was better-suited and I had definitely wanted to do but couldn't find a place for."
The North American leg follows a European tour that begins May 24 in Rotterdam, Holland, with new dates recently added to accommodate demand. Diamond's last tour in 2005 grossed nearly $80 million from 86 shows that drew 1.2 million people, according to Billboard Boxscore.
"Having promoted Neil's last two tours, AEG Live is honored to continue the tradition," AEG Live CEO Randy Phillips tells Billboard.com. "This will be Neil's most ambitious undertaking in terms of scope, venues, and production." Jeff Apregan serves as Diamond's tour producer, and Irving Azoff is Diamond's manager.

Stevie Nicks tour dates 2008 Fleetwood Mac
April 10, 2008 06:04 AM
By Kym Kilgore
LiveDaily Contributor
Stevie Nicks [ tickets ] has filled in her summer tour itinerary with a slate of June shows that will take her around the eastern half of the US and into Canada.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will play gigs next week in Reading, PA, and Uncasville, CT, before launching her summer outing June 5 in Biloxi, MS. Since last check, she's added shows in Tampa and Hollywood, FL; St. Louis, MO; Clarkston, MI; Toledo, OH; and Boston, as well as a two-night stand in Atlantic City, NJ. Details are listed below.
The solo outing comes just as talk of new Fleetwood Mac [ tickets ] activity is making headlines. Singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham recently told Billboard the group is pondering the idea of touring in the first half of 2009, possibly with new material. Also, Nicks buddy Sheryl Crow has publicly stated that she may join the band, though a surprised Buckingham said nothing is written in stone just yet.
Meanwhile, Nicks will continue to support her career-spanning, greatest-hits package, "Crystal Visions: The Very Best of Stevie Nicks," which surfaced last spring and peaked at No. 21 on The Billboard 200. The set delves into material from the Grammy-winning singer's three-decade career as a solo artist and as a member of Fleetwood Mac. It includes live tracks, dance remixes and a DVD comprising 13 videos with voice-over commentary by Nicks, plus an audio interview by journalist David Wild. The DVD also includes never-before-seen home video filmed during the making of Nicks' five-times platinum "Bella Donna" album.
Nicks' most recent solo album is 2001's "Trouble in Shangri-La" and her latest with Fleetwood Mac is 2003's "Say You Will."

How to buy Broadway show tickets in New York City
How To Buy Broadway tickets in 2008 and beyond
If you know what you're doing, you can see a great show without waiting on a line or over paying online
Tom Wilson
Vp tixx.com
What you'll find in this story: tips for finding tickets to a Broadway show, New York entertainment, secrets for securing Broadway tickets , tips for seeing a Broadway play, where to find tickets
Theater prices have gone sky-high--$121 plus service fees for a musical is now the average top box office price. But this is New York, and there's nothing New Yorkers hate more than paying retail. The truth is, Broadway has become a lot like the airline industry: If you know what you're doing, you can spend a fraction of what the person next to you did.
Before you leave
Check out Tixx alert Blog and Playbill.com, the most reliable sites for discounted tickets and up-to-date theater news. Both require you to register, but doing so is free. Circumstances vary from show to show, but tickets can usually be bought from a week to three months in advance for up to 50 percent off (plus fees from the ticket agency, such as Ticketmaster or Telecharge). Don't expect the hottest shows to be discounted, but plenty of big-name productions, including The Phantom of the Opera,Young Frankenstein, and The Producers, were available at less-than-full price at press time. tixx.com and The The Tixx alert Guide to Discount tickets are useful for finding discounts when others fail to offer the show of your choice.
by phone you can call 1.800.688.4000 for your theater tickets needs
The day of the performance check out www.tixx.com We get access to some of the best tckets in the house for much less tan you would pay on stubhub or other broker sites and we gaurantee that you will get the tickets in time for the show, many times we can delvier the tickets to you hotel within 1 hour of your purchase!
Locals and tourists score discounts of 25 to 50 percent by lining up for same-day tickets at the two TKTS kiosks in Manhattan (tdf.org): in Times Square at 47th Street and Broadway, and in the Financial District at the corner of Front and John Streets. The big downside is that you typically must wait more than an hour (sometimes less if you want to see a play; lines are now divided into musical and nonmusical). The most popular shows are unlikely to be available, and you may not get your first choice. Most days, people start queuing up several hours before TKTS opens. tickets may be released several times a day, so it's still possible to grab great seats by stopping by at 6 or 7 p.m., when lines are shortest. The Times Square location is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, and starting at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Wednesdays, and 11 a.m. on Sundays (hours are slightly different downtown). They take only cash and traveler's checks.
Currently, 5 of the toughest tickets on Broadway--that rarely, if ever, appear on TKTS or discount websites-- Wicked, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Gypsy, The Little Mermaid
Several shows, sell same-day rush tickets at substantially discounted prices for students. Check tdf.org or telecharge.com for each show's policy.
30 minutes before curtain
If you arrive at a theater's box office and the show is sold out, don't give up. Many big hits, offer standing-room only (SRO) tickets for about $25, but not until all regular tickets have been purchased. To find out if a specific show releases SRO tickets , go to telecharge.com, find the show, and click on "Getting tickets ." Standing for two hours isn't ideal, but most theaters at least give you a wall to lean against.

NFL 2008 Schedule Includes Games in London, Toronto (Update1)
NFL 2008 Schedule Includes Games in London, Toronto (Update1)
By Aaron Kuriloff
April 15 (Bloomberg) -- The Buffalo Bills will play the Miami Dolphins in Toronto next season in one of two National Football League games scheduled outside the U.S.
The New Orleans Saints will also host the San Diego Chargers in London's Wembley Stadium on Oct. 26, the second straight year that the most-watched sport on U.S. television will be played there. The Dolphins, who played the New York Giants in London last season, will visit the Bills in Toronto's Rogers Centre on Dec. 7.
The game, one of the highlights from the NFL's release of its yearly schedule, will be the first of five regular-season home games the Bills are playing in Toronto through 2012.
The Super Bowl-champion Giants open the regular season hosting division-rival Washington on Sept. 4, a game previously announced.
The Thursday night opener, which has included the reigning league champion each year since 2004, will begin at 7 p.m. New York time on NBC, the NFL said in a news release. The game was moved up 90 minutes from its traditional start because of a conflict with the Republican National Convention.
The Giants also are scheduled to play at least four games in prime-time, including road games against division opponents Philadelphia and Dallas.
``It's a very, very challenging schedule,'' Giants coach Tom Coughlin said in a statement. ``We begin the season against Washington, a division opponent, and face a big challenge with four of our last six games on the road.''
Super Bowl Rematch
The Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears, who met in the Super Bowl two seasons ago, will play Sept. 7 on NBC in the Colts' new Lucas Oil Stadium.
Walt Disney Co.'s ESPN will host a season-opening doubleheader the following night, with Minnesota playing at Green Bay and Denver visiting Oakland.
The network's other games include the Giants at the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 13 and the New England Patriots playing the Denver Broncos on Oct. 20.
The Browns and Packers are each scheduled to play three times on Monday night, while five teams -- the Broncos, Vikings, Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers -- all play twice.
General Electric Co.'s NBC, which airs games on Sunday night, has six involving the Manning brothers, quarterbacks Peyton of the Colts and Eli of the Giants, the most valuable players from the past two Super Bowls.
NBC's games also include three appearances by the Giants, three by the Dallas Cowboys and three by the Patriots.
Road Trip
The Patriots, who finished last season 18-1, host Kansas City in their season-opener. New England, which is 15-1 on the road in the past two seasons, plays four road games on the West Coast and three against defending division champions Indianapolis, San Diego and Seattle.
The league also scheduled three games on the Thanksgiving Day holiday for the third consecutive year. The Detroit Lions host the Tennessee Titans at 12:30 p.m. New York time, the Seahawks visit the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. and the Eagles play Cleveland in Philadelphia at 8:15 p.m.
The Eagles' game, scheduled to air on the league-owned NFL Network, marks the team's first appearance on Thanksgiving Day since 1940. The NFL Network's eight-game schedule, which features seven games on Thursday nights and one on Saturday, also includes the Cowboys' final regular-season game at Texas Stadium before the team opens a new stadium in Arlington, Texas, next season.
The New York Jets open the season Sept. 7 at Miami and play the Dolphins again in the season finale, the first time they have started and finished with the same opponent. The Jets also play the Patriots in their New York opener for the third year in a row

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder solo at LA's Wiltern Theatre
Eddie Vedder solo at LA's Wiltern Theatre
Apr 15, 2008, 11:14 AM | by Whitney Pastorek
Categories: Music
For the thousands of Pearl Jam faithful packing theaters to see Eddie Vedder on his first-ever solo tour, the shows have been a chance to sit at the foot of their spiritual guru and drink in just a little bit more of the Jamily love. But for those paying attention -- and I'm concerned that anyone who was screaming out a request for "Yellow Ledbetter" during every available moment may not have been -- these long, intimate evenings also provide perhaps the first chance in Pearl Jam's eighteen-year history to get inside the never-very-forthcoming frontman's head and sit for a spell.
On a meticulously crafted stage set -- a circular Persian rug, a reel-to-reel tape player, several antique suitcases, a pair of well-traveled golden bat wings -- Vedder played for two hours both Saturday and Sunday, using a wide array of instruments to work his way through covers, the occasional band favorite, and much of the Into the Wild soundtrack, the project that clearly emboldened him to step out on his own. Despite constant references to the proceedings as an experiment -- driven home by the white lab coats that everyone joining him on stage was forced to don -- the shows shared the same freeform-yet-polished vibe Pearl Jam has perfected over the years, the crowd eating up dropped chords and forgotten lyrics even more than the gorgeously executed songs. And thanks to a series of seemingly random yet trenchant between-song tales, we learned fun facts along the way: Ed does a fine impersonation of both Matt Dillon and Chris Rock! He loves Harold and Maude! He's also a closet theater geek! In the end, this all led up to the simple realization that Eddie Vedder, who's never much tried to play the public game, was finally letting us in.
After the jump, a rundown of both shows at the Wiltern here in Los Angeles...
Unlike your average Pearl Jam tour, where set lists can vary wildly from night to night (and are frequently agonized over by a certain lead singer), Vedder's solo tour appears to be running on a tighter track. Part of this may be due to the aforementioned set design: For these nights at the thea-tah that focus on soundtrack songs, the Vedder team not only printed faux-Playbills, but brought along a bus-and-truck caliber collection of backdrops that progress from a simple backstage environment to a traveling-show tent, then burst open at the end. Likewise, the songs began quietly -- a cover of Daniel Johnston's "Walking the Cow," Pearl Jam's own "Around the Bend" and "Dead Man" (the latter off the Dead Man Walking soundtrack, not "Rugrats Go to Prison," as was suggested) -- then grew in scope until it actually seemed entirely appropriate to throw down the furious, unintelligible rant of "Lukin." For a guy who spends most of his time standing between confirmed guitar gods named McCready and Gossard, Vedder's chops are surprisingly well-defined -- yet his gift lies not in shredding or licking or whatever, but rather in the ability to make a single acoustic guitar sound like five in "I Am Mine" and "Masters of War," then turn around to bring a childlike simplicity to "Man of the Hour." There's nervousness there, to be sure, but there shouldn't be. His command of everything from a Telecaster to a uke is stellar.
The Into the Wild material held up live as well as a collection of tiny little songs can, especially the delicate renderings of "No Ceiling" and "Guaranteed" (which my concert buddy Sarah calls "a perfect short story"). "Society" emerged as a duet with support act Liam Finn, whose loopy, infectious opening set probably deserves its own post (watch his appearance on Letterman to get a sense of what I mean); Finn also assisted on "Hard Sun," a number so colossally triumphant I don't want to spoil its surprise for the folks down in San Diego where the tour closes this week. As a bonus, things came to a brief halt on Saturday night when Endeavor's Patrick Whitesell took the stage to present Vedder with the Golden Globe he won for "Guaranteed" but never picked up, the writers' strike affording him the opportunity to spend the day surfing on the North Shore instead. As the crowd jumped to their feet, Vedder threw on a sportscoat and made a short, silly acceptance speech before sticking the statuette in front of the bat and getting on with the show.
A couple more Pearl Jam faves made it into the set ("Thumbing My Way," "Drifting"), but much as I love singing my guts out to "Porch" -- whose acoustic version stems from the way the full band has been doing it live of late -- it was the covers that ultimately made the evening. Vedder took on Springsteen's "Growing Up," Tom Waits' "Picture in a Frame," Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down," then hit me in the heart with James Taylor's "Millwork." (I've always known the latter as part of the musical Working, so I take this as yet another sign of theater-geekery). On Sunday, after treating the crowd to "Last Kiss" with former PJ drummer Jack Irons lending a rhythmic hand, and Body of War's "No More" backed by Ben Harper, the three returned to close the show with a fierce "All Along the Watchtower," Harper's slide handling the Hendrix. But it was something about Vedder strapping on a banjo for Cat Stevens' "If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out" that got me giggling, and that I'll remember the longest. Seriously: Go back a decade and a half in your mind and tell me if you ever in a million years would have expected to see Eddie Vedder playing a solo version of a Cat Stevens song, on the banjo. I'm guessing not.
Speaking of covering things, there's ever so much here I want to write about. Sigh. Since brevity's never been my strong suit, let's just wrap things up with a cautionary tale. Saturday night's crowd was a bit, um, well, "overly rambunctious" was how Vedder described them; Sunday, on the other hand, felt like we'd all been invited over to Ed's house for a bottle of wine and some good conversation, as he told stories that were audible from start to finish, did comedy bits involving vacuum salesmen and a giant Obama banner, and videotaped the audience singing happy birthday to his 90-year-old grandma Margaret, then holding up their lighters for her to "blow out." Perhaps Sunday behaved themselves because Vedder gave them a little talking-to at the top, encouraging respect and saying that he'd like to handle things the way he does with his daughter at home: No one's getting anything if they don't use the magic word. (This naturally led to a hundred cries of "Yellow Ledbetter, PLEEEEEASE!?!?") But look, Saturday, you had a chance to sit and listen to what your true American idol had to say, and instead you made it all about you. Sunday's crowd was full of grace, and they were rewarded. There's a lesson in there somewhere.
Luckily, both groups got to witness the most magical moment of all: At the end of the first encore, Vedder stayed on stage with just a looping pedal and his voice, building a chant that ranged from the deepest part of his chest to the highest part of his howl. There were no words, just hypnotic sound soaring from the darkened stage. That's why we were all there, after all, wasn't it? That voice? On top of his artsy rug, next to his bat, dressed in a lab coat, gripping the mic stand, he remains every bit the rock star we all fell in love with, no matter how hard he may try to shake that mantle. As the chant lingered on repeat and the curtain dropped, Vedder stepped forward to clasp the hands of the fans rushing the stage, reinforcing the fact that -- literally and metaphorically -- these solo shows are the closest most of us have ever been to the guy who created the soundtrack to our lives. What a treat. Seriously, I sound like my grandmother, but how lucky we were to bear witness to this experiment. Let's hope it doesn't take eighteen more years for Ed to try another.

Dallas Cowboys fans wrestle with $100K price tag on seat rights
11:13 AM CST on Thursday, November 29, 2007
By JEFF MOSIER / The Dallas Morning News
jmosier@dallasnews.com
ARLINGTON – Mark Zable expected to pay a pretty price to continue his lifelong devotion to the Dallas Cowboys.
Also Online
Graphic: Ticket prices
Tell Us: Would you pay $100K for a Cowboys seat license?
But what he got when he visited the Cowboys this week to hear the team's sales pitch was severe sticker shock – $100,000 each for two personal seat licenses, a new feature that would allow him to buy tickets at the team's new $1 billion stadium in Arlington. And those seats near Cowboys owner Jerry Jones' luxury box weren't even for the priciest seat licenses in the new stadium – those go for $150,000.
"It takes a different kind of fan to afford these seats," Mr. Zable said.
Robert A. Baade, president of the International Association of Sport Economists, said these are the most expensive seat licenses he's ever encountered. He said it's difficult to know the upper limits of what the public would pay but that Mr. Jones is walking along that edge.
"He's breaking new ground here," Dr. Baade said.
Most other NFL teams offering seat licenses in recent years have had prices ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. Many teams are using seat licensing fees to help pay for new stadiums.
Greg McElroy, the Cowboys senior vice president of sales and marketing, said the Cowboys have been studying stadium ticket and suite packages for 18 months. He said these top-tier Founders Club seats – which number about 1,000 – are comparable to courtside Mavericks tickets or front-row seats at Yankee Stadium.
He said interest has been strong but that there are no figures about how many of the super premium seats have been sold.
Texas Stadium has no such premium seats now, making price comparisons difficult, team officials say. But tickets for similarly located seats cost $129 this season.
Mr. McElroy said the current round of seat license sales are just for the high-dollar, lower-bowl seats. He said more seats would be available next year in the upper deck at a lower price, although those prices are not yet available.
Team officials say they want to sell season tickets for every one of the stadium's 80,000 seats, each with a seat option.
Mr. Zable said he and his father, a season ticket holder since the team's Cotton Bowl days, were prepared to pay $50,000 for each seat license , the maximum price mentioned in recent media reports. Instead, Mr. Zable, 37, walked out of the Arlington ticket office Tuesday – the first day tickets went on sale – empty-handed and wondering what to do next.
Mr. McElroy said the $50,000 maximum was for the club seats. Mr. Zable's option was in the Founders Club, which has been described as a "suite within a seat."
He said the $100,000 and $150,000 seats include all-inclusive food and beverages and access to a private club.
"It gives all the amenities of a suite but without having to deal with all the extra tickets," Mr. McElroy said.
Mr. Zable, who works as a senior recruiter at a mortgage company, said the Cowboys contacted him Wednesday and assured him that they would find him other season ticket seats at a lower price. He had worried that he would lose his season tickets and put his seat license rights up for auction on eBay.
Mr. McElroy said Mr. Zable's concern was a misunderstanding and that season ticket holders who get first shot at the $100,000 or $150,000 seat licenses also would be given the chance to buy less expensive seats. The Cowboys are contacting those season ticket holders to make sure they are clear about the options.
"We learned a lot on our first day," Mr. McElroy said about Tuesday's opening of the ticket office adjacent to the stadium.
According to Cowboys documents, the seat licenses in the lower bowl could be purchased for $16,000 to $150,000 and grant the owner the right to buy those tickets for the next 30 years. Tickets cost $340 for each of the team's 10 guaranteed home games – eight in the regular season and two in the preseason.
That price was fixed for the first five years after the stadium opens in 2009.
Dallas resident Dick Lethe, who also has held season tickets since the Cowboys played in the Cotton Bowl, said he hadn't received pricing information yet. But he said he would opt out even at the $16,000 price tag.
Mr. Jones "is asking for an awful lot," Mr. Lethe said. "I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount, but if they make it unreasonable, I won't buy it. I will be upset if they price me out of the market."
Dr. Baade said he's not sure whether there are enough fans willing and able to pay such high prices. But a 10-1 record by the Cowboys and local oil executives riding high on record gas prices help, he said.
"This is risky business for the team, but Jerry Jones has proven to be a financial maverick," he said.
Darrell Jordan, an attorney and a former Dallas mayoral candidate, said he's heard several people say that the prices are too high and that they wouldn't continue purchasing season tickets. He said Mr. Jones is overreaching.
"It's outrageous," Mr. Jordan said. "I can't imagine the audacity of it."
Mr. Jordan had previously proposed using $10,000 seat licenses to help pay for a Cowboys stadium in Dallas, but that effort failed.
Mr. Zable said he's confident he'll be able to get seats, but he doesn't know whether they'll be seats he wants. About 30 years after attending his first game, Mr. Zable said he's not sure he'll remain a season ticket holder.
He said he'd wait until February to see what seats he's offered but that he fears they'll be picked over and won't be as good as what he has now near the 45-yard line.
"It just doesn't seem like it was equitable," he said.

New Kids on the block 2008 concert tour dates
New Kids Still "Hanging Tough"
BOSTON, April 3, 2008
(AP) They may be pushing 40, but the New Kids are returning to the block. The Boston boy band New Kids on the Block, which sold 70 million albums in the 1980s and early 1990s, has reunited and plans to release a new album and go on tour.
The reunion comes 20 years after the release of the group's multi-platinum album, "Hanging Tough."
The group released a new photo Wednesday and reportedly will appear on the Today show Friday morning - the same time an unmarked countdown clock ends.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The fan response to this has been incredible," band member Donnie Wahlberg told the Boston Herald.
Wahlberg said he was convinced to get back together with his former bandmates - Joey McIntyre, brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight and Danny Wood - when they decided to record new music. Wahlberg said he wrote 80 percent of the new material with McIntyre and Jordan Knight.
"I had no interest going out on a nostalgia tour and singing the same material," said Wahlberg, 38.
But he added, "We absolutely will do the old songs for sure."
Producer Maurice Starr formed the group in Boston in the 1980s, hoping to recreate the success he had with another teen group from the city, New Edition.
At the height of their popularity, New Kids sold out world tours, marketed millions of dollars in merchandise and spawned a Saturday morning cartoon.
The group disbanded in 1994. Wahlberg has acted on television and in movies, while Jordan Knight, McIntyre and Wood released solo albums. Jonathan Knight became a real estate developer.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Perform On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' - Apr. 2, 2008
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS To Perform On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' - Apr. 2, 2008
The reunited STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will be the featured musical guests on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on the Thursday, May 1 episode (which will actually air the morning of May 2 beginning at 12:05 a.m.).
According to Billboard.com, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS will next week announce plans for a summer tour of more than 50 amphitheaters.
The group has already confirmed a handful of festival dates, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 17-18.
Further details about STP's tour will be announced during an April 7 news conference at the Harry Houdini Estate in Los Angeles. It is still unclear whether the band will record new material.
Although STONE TEMPLE PILOTS broke up in 2002 under less than friendly circumstances, both singer Scott Weiland — who just parted ways with VELVET REVOLVER following a very public ar of words — and guitarist Dean DeLeo have said that the band members are all on good terms now. Weiland even told The Pulse of Radio he could envision making another STP album. "We were never a band that felt like we needed to lean too hard onto our muscle," he said. "We always felt like we had enough beauty and enough finesse in our music, you know, while we were together, that could carry us into a long career. So for us to make a record at an older age doesn't seem like a stretch, you know, 'cause we were never all about brawn."
The last STP album, "Shangri-La-Dee-Da", came out in 2001. The band's initial success in the early and mid-'90s was derailed in the latter part of the decade by Weiland's well-documented drug problems and arrests.
Weiland, who recently spent time in rehab at an undisclosed location, has struggled with substance abuse problems for more than a decade, although he has reportedly been clean for nearly four years until now. Questions about his condition flared a few weeks ago when he missed a VELVET REVOLVER performance at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, claiming transportation problems.

Kyocera Wireless will again be the handset partner and premiere sponsor of Virgin Mobile Festival. In Vegas, Branson also debuted Virgin Mobile USA's "Virgin Mobile Festival Special Edition Wild Card" handset from Kyocera, which will be available exclusively at Best Buy this summer.
Fans who purchase the phone will receive festival-inspired content as well as other additional benefits.
Foo Fighters, along with Oasis, Bloc Party, Wintersleep, Constantines, Spiritualized, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, the Weakerthans and the Pigeon Detectives, will also perform at the Toronto edition of the Virgin Festival, which is produced by Goldenvoice.
Lineups have yet to be announced for Virgin Festivals in Calgary and Vancouver.

Velvet Revolver splits with rocker Scott Weiland
Velvet Revolver splits with rocker Scott Weiland
Tue Apr 1, 2008 6:59pm EDT
By Steve Gorman
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Four founding members of the rock band Velvet Revolver said on Tuesday they were splitting with the group's troubled singer, Scott Weiland, citing his "increasingly erratic" behavior.
The announcement came in a terse statement from the group's management company as Weiland, 40, and his recently reunited original band, Stone Temple Pilots, were set next week to announce plans for a highly anticipated summer tour.
The Pilots, also known by their acronym, STP, already have confirmed a handful of upcoming dates, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival in Columbus, Ohio, on May 17-18.
For Weiland, whose career has long been overshadowed by heroin addiction, Rock on the Range will mark his first show with STP since the band played 13 concerts to promote its last album of new material, 2001's "Shangri-La Dee Da."
Following the breakup of STP, Weiland was welcomed as lead singer for Velvet Revolver, the newly formed grunge rock band founded by three former members of Guns N' Roses -- guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum -- along with second guitarist Dave Kushner.
Velvet Revolver was confronted from the start with Weiland's drug and legal problems as it juggled performance schedules, recording sessions and promotional work to accommodate his court dates and rehab.
Last month, Weiland pleaded innocent to a charge of driving under the influence of drugs stemming from his arrest on a Los Angeles freeway ramp in November. He is free on $40,000 bail and is due back in court for a pretrial hearing on Friday.
A public feud between Weiland and Velvet Revolver's drummer already had cast doubt on the band's future when the statement on behalf of Sorum, Slash, McKagan and Kushner was issued under the headline "Velvet Revolver to Part Ways with Singer."
"This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either," Slash was quoted as saying. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."
There was no immediate comment from Weiland, Stone Temple Pilots or their representatives.

Steve Miller Band Launches Major North American Summer Tour

Band Launches Major North American Summer Tour on May 24th
Miller To Receive ASCAP Golden Note Award This April; Live From Chicago DVD Out May 20th; PBS Special Set For June
HOLLYWOOD, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- One of the original jam bands, the Steve Miller Band emerged from San Francisco's summer of love with a distinct sound that has proven to be timeless. Still a mainstay of the summer concert season, the band will launch a 37-city North American tour on May 24th in West Palm Beach, FL. (The band recently played three amazing shows at San Francisco's Fillmore, which sold out in under an hour.) As fresh and vibrant as ever, the Steve Miller Band melds rock, blues, jazz and pop in its own inimitable style, attracting a fervent, multi-generational audience that knows that, in addition to hits from its extraordinary catalog -- "Take the Money and Run," "Rockin' Me," "Jet Airliner," "The Joker," "Fly Like An Eagle," "Livin' in the USA" and "Abracadabra," to name but a few -- the band always comes through with numerous surprises in concert such as obscure fan favorites, classic blues standards and breathtaking improvisations. The legendary Joe Cocker, whose Classic Cocker was released by EMI last year, will be the supporting act.
(Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20080331/LAM025 )
Miller will receive the prestigious ASCAP Golden Note Award at the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' (ASCAP) 25th Annual Pop Music Awards, which will be held April 9th at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. On May 20th, Coming Home Media will release Live From Chicago, the Steve Miller Band's first-ever DVD release. The DVD captures the band's 2007 two-night stand at Chicago's Ravinia Festival in 5.1 Surround Sound and state-of-the-art high definition. In conjunction with the release, PBS will broadcast Live From Chicago during the month of June.
One of the cornerstones of classic rock, the Steve Miller Band has sold a cumulative 25 million albums since Capitol Records released its debut album, Children of the Future, in 1968. A series of Top 40 albums followed, and 1973's The Joker reached #2 on the Billboard 200 while its title track was a #1 single. Fly Like An Eagle, with four Top 40 singles including the #1 hit "Rockin' Me," was released in 1976. Now quadruple Platinum, it is the band's top-selling studio album. Book of Dreams (1977) was a massive success as well. In 1978, Capitol released Greatest Hits: 1974-78, which is currently certified 13x Platinum.
The hits continued -- including "Abracadabra" (from the album of the same name), which was the #1 selling single in 1983, and "I Want to Make the World Turn Around," from Living in the 20th Century, which topped the AC singles chart for five weeks. In 2003, Capitol released a comprehensive collection: Young Hearts -- Complete Greatest Hits, which traced the Steve Miller Band's 35-year affiliation with the label. A special 30th anniversary edition of Fly Like An Eagle followed in 2006, prompting the San Francisco Chronicle to observe: "He [Miller] presaged a generation of heartland rockers, from John Mellencamp to Tom Petty to Widespread Panic." The Steve Miller Band's songs have been covered by a diverse group of artists, including Smashing Pumpkins, deftones, Seal, Run-D.M.C. and k.d. lang.
