Giants fans will have to dole out lots of cash just to get a seat in their team's new stadium.

The Super Bowl champions will sell season-ticket holders "personal seat licenses" for as much as $20,000 in the team's new stadium starting in 2010, team officials said this afternoon .

The team sent letters to fans today notifying fans that the decision to sell PSLs - which gives fans ownership of a seat - came to help pay the tab of the $1.6 billion stadium in the Meadowlands.

PSL prices will range from $1,000 to $20,000 for each seat , Giants CEO John Mara said.

The team said 90 percent of the seats in the upper bowl will have $1,000 PSLs. Fewer than 5,000 seats, in a stadium with a capacity of 82,500, will be at the highest price.

The team is expected to make as much as $400 million from PSL sales.

"All the net proceeds from the sale of PSLs will be used to fund construction of the new stadium," Mara said .

A PSL guarantees the owner's right to purchase a season ticket as long as the GiantsNew York Giants play in the new stadium. It also provides a fan with control of successorship of the tickets - a benefit now only available for direct family members.

"You can sell them or will them - the season-ticket holder gets to decide," Mara explained . "This isn't the case now."

The team decided to sell PSLs to help with escalating construction costs attached to the new Meadowlands facility.

"We have spent months exploring our various options regarding the financing of the construction of the new stadium," Mara said. "Given construction costs and NFL and lender requirements for paying down our debt, and after much thought and analysis, we decided this PSL program is necessary."

The PSL stays active on the condition that the season tickets are purchased annually.

The Jets New York Jets , who will share the new stadium with the Giants, has not yet made on decision to sell PSLs, but did send season-ticket holders a survey this week in order to gauge interest.

NBC is selling Super Bowl spots in next year's game for $3 million per 30-second unit, sources familiar with the situation said. That's about 11 percent higher than the average $2.7 million that Fox commanded for this year's game.

While Fox sources indicated it received $3 million for one or two spots late in the selling process leading up to the February 2008 telecast, NBC has just begun selling units (outside of multiyear packages) and could achieve close to an average of $3 million per unit. So far, 30 percent of the inventory in the 2009 game has been sold, mostly in multiyear deals struck earlier, with clients such as Anheuser-Busch, which purchases time in the game years in advance. And it buys close to 10 spots per game so its prices are lower per unit than sponsors buying one or two ads.

"Right now $3 million is the benchmark," for individual units, said a source familiar with the numbers.

How are game tickets distributed?
The demand for tickets to Super Bowl XLIII greatly exceeds the NFL's ability to accommodate the majority of fans interested in attending the game. The vast majority of Super Bowl tickets (approximately 75%) are distributed to the 32 NFL teams. The participating teams each receive 17.5% of the tickets, the non-participating teams receive 1.2% and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as the host team, will receive 5%. The remaining 25.2% are controlled by the NFL and are distributed primarily to NFL affiliated companies, the broadcast network, corporate sponsors, media, VIP's charities, fans and the Host Committee.

Are tickets sold to the general public?
The NFL distributes approximately 1% of the tickets to fans through an annual Super Bowl random drawing. The drawing is not considered a lottery (there is no charge to enter). This is the NFL's only method of distributing tickets to the general public. The NFL does not sell tickets to travel or ticket agents.

Requests for the random drawing are accepted between February 1st and June 1st of each year, preceding the game. For Super Bowl XLIII the drawing will be in 2008. All entries must include name, address, phone number and email address, and must be sent via certified or registered mail. (Reuters) - A newly independent Ticketmaster will likely take on about $750 million in debt and have $450 million in cash as it is spun off from parent IAC/InterActiveCorp, a top IAC executive said on Monday.

IAC Chief Financial Officer Thomas McInerney said Ticketmaster and sibling units HSN and Interval would initially be capitalized with net debt as they are spun off.

IAC is also planning to spin off online mortgage unit LendingTree.com, with the process for all four units likely to be completed in late July or early August, McInerney said.

"In general we're making good progress on the timeline we have discussed," McInerney said on a conference call with analysts.

Sean Moriarty, chief executive of Ticketmaster, said on the call that the company saw substantial new opportunities in expanding its international ticket sales services, its ticket resale functions and helping artists market themselves to a growing fan base that no longer listens to the radio.

Ticketmaster faces new competition in the live entertainment ticketing market from concert promoter Live Nation, which is due to end a long-term partnership between the companies this year.

Moriarty said on Monday that he expects Ticketmaster to see profit growth in 2009 despite the departure of Live Nation, which accounts for about 15 percent of revenue and 10 percent to 15 percent of bottom line income.

Ticketmaster currently operates in 20 countries and expects to nearly double that number in the coming five years, Moriarty said.

Shares of IAC were down 13 cents, or 0.6 percent, to $20.46 in afternoon trading on Nasdaq.

Exclusive: Cohl, Rapino Talk Live Nation Plans

Exclusive: Cohl, Rapino Talk Live Nation Plans
June 23, 2008 , 12:15 PM ET

Ray Waddell, Nashville
It's official: Michael Cohl has resigned as chairman of the board of Live Nation, and also vacates his post as CEO of Live Nation Artists, effective immediately. Negotiations for Cohl's resignation were finalized Friday (June 20); he will serve as a consultant to the company.

News that Cohl's exit from Live Nation was imminent was first tipped on Billboard.biz last week, and has been the source of rampant speculation in the industry. In an exclusive conference call with Billboard, Cohl and Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino outlined Cohl's exit and downplayed media reports of rancor between the two.

"One of the strengths of Michael Cohl is he's a big thinker, strategic, great with relationships, artists and big deals," Rapino says. "That's what we want him to do, we don't actually want him to get caught up in the day-to-day of running of our division and all the bureaucracy around the operational part. We want him to go out and do what he does best for us and that's what we're back to doing."

Former Live Nation chairman of the board Randall Mays will eventually reassume that position; Live Nation chairman of global music/CEO of global touring Arthur Fogel will run LNA. Cohl's consultant deal runs through 2012, and he has a non-compete clause that runs through 2016.

Asked what precipitated the move, Cohl says, "Just the moon and the stars," admitting that perhaps he took on too many duties in the dual position of running LNA and chairing Live Nation. "I've been giving people grief and making things difficult, and it was really all about I wasn't doing what I'm really good at," he says. "From my perspective it's much more about that than any of this nitty-gritty detail that anybody wants to talk about that's not relevant."

As CEO of Live Nation Artists, Cohl headed the division of the company that orchestrated the much-publicized deals with such artists as Madonna, Jay-Z, and U2. These Madonna and Jay-Z deals alone have been valued at $120 million and $150 million, respectively. Speculation has been that how Live Nation will pursue these 360 deals going forward was the root of the tension in the Live Nation board room. As CEO of Live Nation Artists, Cohl reported to Rapino.

Rapino stops short of saying there were any philosophical differences between he and Cohl regarding LNA. "We believe being in long-term, deeper relationships with artists is a great strategy, we will be 100% pursuing it," Rapino says. "There has never been a debate with Michael Cohl as to whether we should be in the Madonna business or be in long-term relationships, or be in more rights with artists."

That said, it does seem clear that Rapino and LNA will not be overly aggressive in nailing down new 360 deals. Rapino says the plan was always to sign four artists the first year. "We are close to the signing of another superstar, we're in discussions with a couple of others," he says. "Maybe we get to four in 2008 as was the plan, or maybe we get to five or six. We're happy to be in the business and we will continue to be in the 360 business."

The mood on the call was jovial, contradicting reports that the two were at major odds. "We didn't comment for a reason," on that talk, Rapino says. "We come from Canada, we always talk about how we might have some fights in the dressing room but when we go out on the ice, we're united. Michael and I have had fights since the day I met him ... and he's always challenged me to make bigger and better decisions. We don't always agree, but that was never relevant to whether we would be having dinner together for the rest of our lives and having great respect and working together."

Cohl served as chairman of the company since February, and prior to that was vice chairman since 2006. He remains one of the company's largest shareholders, though not the largest. "I've got a big whack of stock, let's put it that way," Cohl says. "I think the stock has incredible upside. I'm not selling my stock."

Cohl, known for pioneering a global touring model that taps into numerous revenue streams, has promoted every Rolling Stones tour since 1989, including A Bigger Bang in 2005-2007, the top grossing tour of all time at $558 million. Both Cohl and Rapino indicate that Cohl will produce more tours with Live Nation, possibly one next year.

In terms of this summer's touring business, Rapino says, "The world is assuming my business is going to have a tough summer because of gas prices, etc., and I can say to you we have one of the strongest summer lineups we've had in a longtime. We have most of our shows on sale and some already executed, we have not experienced one ounce of soft sales or on-site ancillary sales effecting our business. We're very optimistic that we're still completely on plan and will have a very good summer."

By Martin on June 19th, 2008

The US Open 2008 has only just finished but already thoughts have moved to the US Open 2009 which will take place at Bethpage State Park Golf Course in Farmingdale, New York on the weekend of 18th June 2009 to 22nd June 2009.

GET US OPEN GOLF TICKETS NOW

The Bethpage State park was the first publicly owned and operated golf course to host the US Open when it hosted the 2002 US Open. The US Open had previously always being held at private golf clubs or country clubs.

The Bethpage park has 5 18 hole golf course, called black, blue, red green and yellow. They range in difficulty with the black course being the hardest, and that is the one which played host to the US Open in 2009.

Tiger Woods has just announced he will miss the rest of the 2008 season with a knee injury but he is sure to want to get back out and playing in time for the 2009 US Open Golf Tournament as he won there back in 2002.

The Bethpage Black course looks a good choice for the US Open Golf 2009 as it produced a really exciting and difficult course when it hosted before with only Tiger Woods managing to break par.

Live Nation Inc. The world's largest concert promoter is negotiating the exit of Chairman Michael Cohl, say people close to the situation.

Live Nation Chairman in Exit Talks
By ETHAN SMITH
June 20, 2008

An internal feud over strategy could soon be resolved at Live Nation Inc. The world's largest concert promoter is negotiating the exit of Chairman Michael Cohl, say people close to the situation.

Mr. Cohl and Chief Executive Michael Rapino have battled for weeks over novel contracts known as "360 deals," under which the company agrees to give superstar performers rich upfront payments in exchange for financial participation in virtually all their business, from recorded-music sales to image licensing. Live Nation has done such deals with artists like Madonna and Jay-Z, who have been promised $120 million and $150 million, respectively.

WireImage
Michael Cohl at a 2005 Rolling Stones promotional event.
Mr. Cohl wants to accelerate the pace of the deal-making, while Mr. Rapino wants to slow it down.

After watching the feud escalate last week, the company's board directed Mr. Cohl and the company's management to work out their differences quickly. That resolution appears likely to include an agreement as soon as next week on Mr. Cohl's departure, these people said.

Crucial terms have yet to be resolved, such as the size any financial settlement, or whether Live Nation would invoke a clause in Mr. Cohl's contract banning him for several years from competing with the company.

Neither Mr. Cohl nor Mr. Rapino could be reached for comment.

As founder, in 1973, of Toronto-based Concert Productions International Inc., Mr. Cohl has helped shape the financial landscape of the modern concert business, enlisting corporate sponsors to underwrite production costs and helping usher in the era of the $500 concert ticket.

Mr. Cohl joined Live Nation last year, becoming its chairman and largest individual shareholder, after Live Nation bought his company for $123 million in stock and $10 million cash. When tensions with Mr. Rapino first surfaced, say people familiar with the matter, Mr. Cohl initially tried to buy his company back from Live Nation. But the parties couldn't agree on a price, and Live Nation indicated it would enforce a non-compete agreement that would keep Mr. Cohl out of concert promotion for eight years after his departure.

In November, Mr. Cohl defended the rich valuations of the 360 deals to investors by saying they were "cross collateralized." In other words, $17.5 million per album for Madonna might sound excessive, but he said it wasn't when factoring in the payout from touring or merchandise sales.

He said Live Nation expected to gross $1 billion from Madonna-related business during the 10-year contact. However, since the deal was unveiled in October, Live Nation's stock has fallen 44%

South Pacific is here to steal your hearts 7 Tony Awards

South Pacific is here to steal your hearts! This great musical, with music by Richard Rodgers, considered being one of the greatest musicals in history. The last time this musical was shown was in 1949 at the Majestic Theatre. From there, it moved to Broadway Theatre in 1953. It ran for over 5 years and gave 1,925 performances! In fact it’s the fifth longest running show in the history of Broadway! The songs of this musical are powerful. Some of them like "Some Enchanted Evening," "Bali Ha'i," A Wonderful Guy," and "Younger than Springtime" have become true classics across the world!

“The South Pacific” has become one of the hottest shows on Broadway! After a bit of a slow start after it opened, word of mouth has travelled fast and tickets are flying out of this office. Thankfully, tixx.com(http://www.tixx.com ) has tried hard to solve this problem and satisfy theatre lovers. We theatre experts here have had the fortunate opportunity to see this spectacular show with its classic songs (“Bali Hai’a”, “Some Enchanted Evening”, many others) and we all loved it. We are certain you and your family will love it as well.

The story of “South Pacific” revolves when two couples fall in love with each other during a war, history is created and so is South Pacific the musical! Based on a couple of short stories by James A. Michener in his Pulitzer Prize winning book “Tales of the South Pacific”, this musical is so powerful, you can’t ignore it! This is one story that will move your mind, body and soul. As you step out of the theatre after watching the show, you’ll be compelled to think about the issues considered in it. “South Pacific” is no ordinary musical. Nor is it a simple love story. It’s a story that brings out the cruel realities of war and also depicts the effects of racism and prejudices.

autopsy showed that Tim Russert had an enlarged heart, NBC reported

Russert had been recording voiceovers for this Sunday's "Meet The Press" when he was stricken, NBC said. Russert's internist, Michael A. Newman, said cholesterol plaque had ruptured in an artery, causing sudden coronary thrombosis. Resuscitation was begun immediately and continued at Sibley Memorial Hospital, to no avail.

Newman said an autopsy showed that Russert had an enlarged heart, NBC reported. Russert had been diagnosed with asymptomatic coronary artery disease, which he was controlling with medication and exercise, the doctor said.

Springsteen to Russert: Tiimmmmmmmm
By Jacques Steinberg
Bruce Springsteen teased Tim Russert and introduced a new song, “Living to the Future,” in a performance on NBC’s “Today.

Bruce Springsteen teased Tim Russert and introduced a new song, “Living to the Future,” in a performance on NBC’s “Today.”At 8:50 this morning, Bruce Springsteen was telling the big crowd that had gathered on Rockefeller Plaza to watch him perform on the “Today’’ program about the things that he loves about America.
His list included cheeseburgers, “the Jersey shore,’’ “the Yankees battling Boston’’ and “trans fats.’’ But then there was also this: “Tim Russert’s haircut.’’
As luck would have it, and as Mr. Springsteen well knew, Mr. Russert was in the audience, watching just a few feet from the stage. An hour and a half earlier, Matt Lauer, the co-host of “Today,’’ had interviewed Mr. Russert live in the “Today’’ studio during a segment about Thursday night’s sparsely attended Republican primary debate, which was held at Morgan State University, an historically black college.
During that interview, Mr. Lauer could not resist ribbing Mr. Russert, who is based in Washington, D.C., for showing up in person “to talk about this subject – or was it Bruce Springsteen?’’ (Tavis Smiley, who was also interviewed in the segment, appeared via remote hook-up from Baltimore.)
“I’m just an opening act for the Boss today,’’ Mr. Russert said.
As it turned out, Mr. Springsteen’s list – which likened the way “we love all those things’’ to “the way the womenfolk love old Matt Lauer’’ – was something of a diversion. Continuing his introduction to a new song called “Living in the Future’’ – which, he explained, is actually about “what’s happening right now’’ – Mr. Springsteen began to itemize those things about modern-day America that give him great pause.
“Over the past six years we’ve had to add to the American picture,’’ he said, “rendition, illegal wire tapping, voter suppression, no habeas corpus, the neglect of our great city of New Orleans and her people, an attack on the Constitution, and the loss of our best young men and women in a tragic war.’’
“This is a song,’’ he said, in a monologue over Max Weinberg’s somber drumbeat and Roy Bittan’s soft, electric piano, “about things that shouldn’t happen here, happening here.’’
The crowd, which stretched from 48th Street to 49th Street, cheered.

Baseball has lost one of its biggest fans RIP Tim Russert

Tim Russert autopsy to be performed

Russert was a big guy, and since he had just flown from Italy the night before, I'm betting that DVT played a big part in his heart attack.. The airline seats these says are pretty cramped, and even in first class (if he flew first class) the lack of mobility for such a long time can compromise blood flow..

A man as heavily insured as he must have been would surely have been diagnosed/treated for heart disease if he had had it. Maybe he did, and told no one, but the sudden onset of troubles, so soon after a long flight , made me think immediately of DVT.

Did Deep vein thrombosis and airline travel—the deadly duo take Tim Russerts life ?

Deep vein thrombosis and airline travel—the deadly duo - Tim Russert dies

Air travel has become the most popular mode of long-distance travel in the United States and abroad. Figures published by the International Air Transport Association in 1998 suggest an ever-increasing rise in the number of airline passengers--from 1.4 billion in 1997 to 1.5 billion in 1998 with a prediction of two billion airline travelers by 2003. (5)

Given these statistics, it is important to consider the physical effects of traveling long distances by airplane. Approximately 2,000 Americans died from travel-related DVT strokes in 1999. (6) Newspaper headlines, such as "Long Flights Can Cause Blood Clots, Group Warns," "Airlines Sued Over Blood Clots," and "International Carriers Address New Threat: Coach-Class Syndrome," highlight a growing concern about the formation of fatal blood clots after long airline flights as a public health problem. (7)

International airports and hospitals near airports report alarming statistics.

* As many as 400 people per year may be arriving at Sydney Airport in Australia suffering from DVT. (8)

* At least one long-distance airplane passenger dies every month from a blood clot within minutes of landing at Heathrow Airport. (9)

* A nurse from a hospital near a British airport stated that the hospital receives approximately 10 patients per month who are experiencing problems related to air travel. (10)

* Physicians at Ashford Hospital, London, which treats patients who arrive at Heathrow Airport, say that more than 2,000 people die from flight-related DVT every year in Britain. (11)

Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday

WASHINGTON - Tim Russert, NBC News’ Washington bureau chief and the moderator of “Meet the Press,” died Friday after a sudden heart attack at the bureau, NBC News said Friday. He was 58.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. No details were immediately available.

Russert, the recipient of 48 honorary doctorates, took over the helm of “Meet the Press” in December 1991. Now in its 60th year, “Meet the Press” is the longest-running program in the history of television.

In 2008, Time Magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Timothy John Russert Jr. was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on May 7, 1950. He was a graduate of Canisius High School, John Carroll University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He was a member of the bar in New York and the District of Columbia.

Senate staffer before entering journalism
After graduating from law school, Russert went into politics as a staff operative. In 1976, he worked on the Senate campaign of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, D-N.Y., and in 1982, he worked on Mario Cuomo’s campaign for governor of New York.

Russert joined NBC News in 1984. In April 1985, he supervised the live broadcasts of NBC's TODAY show from Rome, negotiating and arranging an appearance by Pope John Paul II, a first for American television. In 1986 and 1987, Russert led NBC News’ weeklong broadcasts from South America, Australia and China.

Of his background as a Democratic political operative, Russert said, “My views are not important.”

“Lawrence Spivak, who founded ‘Meet the Press,’ told me before he died that the job of the host is to learn as much as you can about your guest’s positions and take the other side,” he said in a 2007 interview with Time magazine. “And to do that in a persistent and civil way. And that’s what I try to do every Sunday.”

Cuomo, Russert’s onetime boss, wrote of Russert: “Most candidates are not eager to present themselves for Tim’s incisive scrutiny, which is fed by his prodigious study and preparation. But they have little choice: appearing on ‘Meet the Press’ is today as vital to a serious candidate as being properly registered to vote.”

Russert wrote two books — “Big Russ and Me” in 2004 and “Wisdom of Our Fathers” in 2006 — both of which were New York Times best-sellers.

Emmy for Reagan funeral coverage
In 2005, Russert was awarded an Emmy for his role in the coverage of the funeral of President Ronald Reagan. His “Meet the Press” interviews with George W. Bush and Al Gore in 2000 won the Radio and Television Correspondents’ highest honor, the Joan S. Barone Award, and the Annenberg Center’s Walter Cronkite Award.

Russert’s March 2000 interview of Sen. John McCain shared the 2001 Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in Television Journalism. He was also the recipient of the John Peter Zenger Award, the American Legion Journalism Award, the Veterans of Foreign Wars News Media Award, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society Journalism Award, the Allen H. Neuharth Award for Excellence in Journalism, the David Brinkley Award for Excellence in Communication and the Catholic Academy for Communication’s Gabriel Award. He was a member of the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.

Russert was a trustee of the Freedom Forum’s Newseum and a member of the board of directors of the Greater Washington Boys and Girls Club, and America’s Promise — Alliance for Youth.

In 1995, the National Father’s Day Committee named him “Father of the Year,” Parents magazine honored him as “Dream Dad” in 1998, and in 2001 the National Fatherhood Initiative also recognized him as Father of the Year.

Irish America magazine named him one of the top 100 Irish Americans in the country, and he was selected as a Fellow of the Commission of European Communities.

Russert is survived by his wife, Maureen Orth, a writer for Vanity Fair magazine, and a son, Luke.

Van Halen reunion grosses more than $93 million

Van Halen reunion grosses more than $93 million
Thu Jun 5, 2008 8:14pm EDT

- Despite a wobbly start and fears of imminent implosion, Van Halen said on Thursday its first tour with singer David Lee Roth in two decades grossed more than $93 million, a record for the rock band.

Van Halen played to nearly one million people during 74 arena shows throughout the United States and Canada, beginning September 27 in Charlotte, N.C. and wrapping Tuesday in Grand Rapids, Mich.

"We send our thanks to the countless new and longtime fans that helped make this tour our most successful," Van Halen said in a statement.

Roth, who left the band in 1985, rejoined guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen. But it was not a reunion of the classic lineup, as the brothers replaced bass player Michael Anthony with Eddie's son Wolfgang, now 17.

The reunion was initially envisaged as a summer amphitheater tour, but the trek was put off when Eddie Van Halen entered rehab. Given the historic bad blood between Roth and the Van Halen brothers, and concerns about Eddie's health, there was plenty of skepticism about the tour's prospects.

But Eddie Van Halen, displaying a buff physique, appeared to have lost of his prowess, while Roth was in fine voice. The reviews were positive.

During a news conference last August, Roth said he expected the band to embark on a new life as a recording and touring entity. The band's immediate plans are uncertain, but the statement said "exciting developments" were on the way.

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss tickets for NYC $30.00 each!

The staging is distinctly understated: save for a gold curtain that unfurls before the closing number, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss's click here for tickets show is almost completely devoid of visual distraction. Just a few rugs, a discreet curtain backdrop, and a couple of modest screens either side of the stage.

Even the band have the low-key demeanour of upscale bouncers. But although they don't make any flashy moves it's sometimes hard to tell whether it's Buddy Miller or Stuart Duncan that's picking out a specific guitar solo they have the lived-in look of great character actors. Bassist Dennis Crouch bears a resemblance to the late, great Peter Boyle; and bandleader T Bone Burnett could be a riverboat gambler from some Anthony Mann Western.

The important thing is that they're all masters of their instruments, none more evidently than drummer Jay Bellerose, a constant blur of movement as he employs a wealth of techniques to draw every last breath of drama out of each song. This isn't drumming, it's inhabiting the songs so intimately that they burst vividly into life, whether he's dashing off a frisky second-line shuffle behind Burnett on "Bon Ton Roulay", driving the bold, dynamic shifts of a bluegrass "Black Country Woman", or draping cloths over drumskins to dampen the beats on a slow, sultry "Black Dog".

Then, of course, there are Plant and Krauss themselves, a pairing whose unlikeliness is still evident in the occasional slight twinge in their harmonies. But all the best musical couplings have this kind of unexpected eccentricity about them, and this one works magically, from the sly warmth of "Rich Woman" to the rockabilly "Gone Gone Gone", reaching its apogee on a tremendous "Please Read the Letter".

For much of the show, Krauss leaves the violin duties to Duncan to concentrate on singing. And what a voice she has! Her keening wail on "Trampled Rose" is spine-tingling, quite supernatural in its haunting purity, while her delivery on "Sister Rosetta Goes before Us" and "Through the Morning, Through the Night" stands as testament to the one-inch-punch emotional power packed by the gentlest of voices. "Down to the River to Pray" gets a particularly warm reception, too.

Plant, meanwhile, proves there's more to his game than the shriek of yore, with the warm vocal caresses of his harmonies interspersed with more rousing bonhomie on "Fortune Teller", before he dives bravely into the maelstrom of despair that is Townes van Zandt's "Nothin'". A pertinent reminder that sometimes, some music demands to be taken seriously.

Stone Temple Pilots...and Yes Scott is a rock star ...

I do agree that the one hour wait between Filter and STP was insane, but something was definitely up. I've seen tons of STP shows over the years, and this is not something that STP would pull. Clearly Scott's struggling right now. The show itself was amazing though. STP played some great old tunes that we haven't heard in a while, and there was lots of energy coming from that stage. Scott was clearly out of it. He forgot the lyrics a few times (I was sitting right in front of him and watching his mouth the whole time...for more than one reason ;)) and he just looked dazed and confused. Dean, Rob and Eric rocked, but Scott was clearly out of it. It's so sad. I've been a HUGE Stone Temple Pilots fan since they released Core back in 92, and Scott needs so much help right now. I just hope he realizes at some point that beating drug addiction is a daily battle and you have to love yourself more than the dope if you wanna survive.

All that aside, I need more STP and I need it now. How awesome was it to see the guys back together again after nearly 6 years?!?! I hope they book some NYC club gigs in the fall. I am sooo there. LOVE THEM!! Here's a pic I took tonight on my cell cam -
