Gardai investigate sale of bogus U2 concert tickets
Friday, 9 January 2009
The Garda Fraud Squad is investigating reports that tickets were being sold online for a bogus U2 concert.
A US-owned website was reportedly offering tickets for a gig in Slane on July 1st.
However, the band insist that they have yet to confirm plans for a tour, so any concert dates being touted online are fake.
Lord Henry Mountcharles, owner of Slane Castle, says he had to contact the operators of the website to get them to take down any references to the venue.
