http://tixxalert.blogspot.com/2007/05/att-to-launch-new-blackberry-curve-may.html
AT and T and Research In Motion (RIM) today announced the introduction of the BlackBerry Curve, the smallest and lightest full QWERTY BlackBerry handset. AT and T will be the first wireless carrier in North America to offer the BlackBerry Curve in wireless retail and business channels beginning tomorrow, Thursday, May 31.

Available in the U.S. exclusively from AT&T, the BlackBerry Curve can be used by AT&T customers within the broadest domestic and international coverage area for wireless data services of any U.S. carrier. The BlackBerry Curve measures just 4.2” x 2.4” x 0.6”, weighs approximately 3.9 oz. and builds on the proven and popular BlackBerry handset experience to offer innovative features and enhanced multimedia capabilities while maintaining exceptional battery life. The BlackBerry Curve is the first BlackBerry handset to offer a 2 megapixel camera and spell checker for e-mail. It gives AT&T customers the personal productivity and flexibility they want and keeps them connected to the important people and content in their lives with messaging, music and other capabilities.

Fashioned in a liquid silver finish with chrome highlights, smooth edges and soft curves, the BlackBerry Curve strikes a unique balance of features, usability and design. It combines the renowned BlackBerry e-mail and messaging capabilities, premium phone features, comprehensive organizer and fast Internet browser with a new 2 megapixel camera with zoom, enhanced media player and new desktop media manager, microSD expandable memory slot and RIM's intuitive trackball navigation system. The BlackBerry Curve from AT&T also includes AT&T Music subscription services, TeleNav Maps to provide users with maps and driving directions and integrated Push to Talk (PTT) for enhanced communications.

“The BlackBerry Curve has all of the qualities of a winner that will resonate with a broad segment of AT&T customers,” said Kent Mathy, president of AT&T’s Business Markets Group. “Business professionals and consumers alike will gravitate to its iconic look, industry-leading coverage both here in the U.S. and abroad, robust e-mail and Web browsing capabilities, and powerful entertainment offerings.”

“We continue to make BlackBerry handsets smaller, thinner, lighter and more powerful while staying focused on delivering a quality user experience,” said Mike Lazaridis, president and Co-CEO of Research In Motion. “The BlackBerry Curve, with its full QWERTY keyboard and sleek new design, is a perfect choice for people who want enhanced multimedia features together with an uncompromising communications experience.”

The BlackBerry Curve represents another first for AT&T, which is the leading provider of BlackBerry services worldwide. AT&T was the first carrier* in the world to introduce the BlackBerry wireless solution in 1999 and has since continued to lead the way with the introduction of groundbreaking BlackBerry handsets, including the BlackBerry 8700c, BlackBerry 8800 and the red BlackBerry Pearl.

The BlackBerry Curve is powered by AT&T’s nationwide EDGE network, the largest high-speed national wireless data network in the U.S. with availability in more than 13,000 cities and towns and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. The quadband BlackBerry Curve from AT&T keeps users who are abroad connected with wireless data services in more countries — more than 130 — than any other U.S. carrier. The new BlackBerry Curve from AT&T also features:

A large, ultrabright 320-by-240 display that supports more than 65,000 colors, complete with light-sensing technology that automatically adjusts backlighting for indoor, outdoor and dark environments.

The first BlackBerry handset to offer a built-in spell checker with user-customizable dictionary to help ensure the accuracy of e-mail and other text entries.

Premium phone features, including noise-cancellation technology to offset background noise, Speaker Independent Voice Recognition (SIVR) for Voice Activated Dialing (VAD), dedicated Send, End, and Mute keys, low-distortion speakerphone, and Bluetooth (2.0) support for hands-free use with headsets, car kits and Bluetooth peripherals.

AT&T Push to Talk (PTT), running on the largest PTT network in the U.S, so customers can use the service to stay connected with individual colleagues, friends or family or to set up groups for broader communication.

A 2 megapixel camera with 5x digital zoom, built-in flash, self-portrait mirror and a full screen viewfinder. The camera can capture images in up to three picture quality and size resolutions that can be quickly shared by e-mail, MMS, BlackBerry Messenger or Bluetooth. Photos can also be set as a unique caller ID or home screen image.

A powerful new media manager application, which is included as part of the BlackBerry Desktop software. The Roxio Media Manager for BlackBerry, which was developed with Sonic and based on the award-winning Roxio Easy Media Creator 9, introduces a new level of simplicity, allowing users to easily search for media files on their computer, view and organize them; create MP3 music files from CDs; add audio tags; create playlists; and automatically copy or convert pictures, music and videos for optimal playback on the BlackBerry Curve.

A 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, support for Bluetooth stereo audio profile (A2DP/AVRCP) and dedicated volume controls.

AT&T Music, an integrated, on-the-go music experience that delivers “your music, your way” by providing simple access to a robust collection of music content, including access to online subscription music content from eMusic, XM Satellite Radio and more.

TeleNav Maps, a free mapping application that can help users find addresses and provide step-by-step directions with the ability to upgrade to TeleNav GPS Navigator. TeleNav GPS Navigator can be used with a Bluetooth–enabled GPS accessory to provide audible turn-by-turn driving directions, local points of interest or the latest traffic information — all for a low monthly subscription.

Support for polyphonic, MP3 and MIDI ringtones.

BlackBerry Internet Service support that allows access to up to 10 personal and corporate e-mail accounts, including most popular ISP e-mail accounts.

BlackBerry Enterprise Server support for enterprise deployments, integrating with IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise environments and features a new set of IT policy controls for managing the handset’s features and usage.

A variety of in-the-box accessories, including stereo headset, travel charger and USB cable. Additional accessories for BlackBerry handsets, including premium leather holsters and totes, an automotive charger, and Bluetooth headsets are available online and through retail outlets.

Pricing and Availability

The BlackBerry Curve will be available for as low as $199.99 with a two-year contract and mail-in rebate beginning May 31 in AT&T (formerly Cingular Wireless) retail stores, online at www.cingular.com, through select national retailers and various AT&T business channels. Customers who want personal e-mail access and Web browsing with BlackBerry Internet Service can choose the BlackBerry Personal Unlimited plan for as low as $29.99 a month with a qualified voice contract. Unlimited corporate e-mail access via BlackBerry Enterprise Server is as low as $44.99 a month when a qualified voice plan is also chosen or when customers who travel overseas can have unlimited e-mail access internationally for as low as $64.99 a month with a qualified voice plan. Unlimited Cingular Push to Talk service is available for an additional monthly charge of $9.99 per device and $19.99 for Push to Talk Family. AT&T Push to Talk also features a pay-per-use option of $.15 a minute. TeleNav GPS Navigator monthly service is available for $5.99 for 10 trips or $9.99 for unlimited trips. As features within AT&T Music, XM Satellite Radio and MusicID require monthly subscription fees of $8.99 and $3.99, respectively.

Police wow crowd with hits at first stop on tour REVIEW concert

Police wow crowd with hits at first stop on tour
Updated Tue. May. 29 2007 9:19 AM ET

Canadian Press

VANCOUVER -- The legendary punk-inspired reggae-rock band The Police kicked off its high-energy reunion tour Monday by delivering a powerhouse performance, wowing fans with hit after megahit for more than two hours straight.

The trio of singer-bassist Sting, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland opened with "Message in a Bottle," as fans took to their feet for the group's 1979 smash hit. "How you doin'?" asked Sting, to a collective roar from spectators.

Most of the sold-out crowd of 20,000 fans at General Motors Place stayed standing for much of the show, whose second song featured a six-minute rendition of 1982's "Synchronicity."

The cross-generational crowd swayed to the music, offering up thunderous applause to the group that hasn't played a stadium since 1984, when it split up at the height of its success.

Some fans were in for a nostalgic night of worshipping a band that has made several trips to Vancouver while others, who weren't even born when the group split up, were out for a rocking good time with a group whose music has never gone out of style.

The band was tight, led by a buff-looking 55-year-old Sting dressed in a casual, sleeveless T-shirt that showed off his well-toned biceps as he strut his stuff across the stage - for brief stints anyway - on some numbers.

The simplicity of the set, featuring two ovals ringed with lights, complemented the complexity of the songs by the trio of musicians who have enjoyed solo careers since they last stoked a stadium full of fans.

Many in the crowd were undoubtedly in diapers when they first sang "De do do do, De da da da" from the band's 1980 album Zenyatta Mondatta.

A melodic, sensual version of "Wrapped Around Your Finger" featured 64-year-old Summers's strengths with the guitar riffs, 54-year-old Copeland's drumming prowess and Sting's magic on the bass, eliciting some of the biggest crowd reaction.

"Roxanne" a tune about a letter to a prostitute that the band sang at the Grammy Awards in February before announcing its world tour, was among the biggest crowd pleasers.

"Roxanne, oh!" fans yelled back as a bespectacled Copeland, the band's powerful drum machine, belted out the beat and Sting swayed his guitar like a baby.

The personality of each band member shone through on each number - in-control frontman Sting, a laid-back Summers and comedian Copeland, who during "Walking in Your Footsteps" began running around his drum set.

"Stewart, stay!" quipped Sting, much to the crowd's delight.

Most of the songs were rearranged only slightly and arguably better than their original versions.

An uptempo "Every Breath You Take" put the spotlight on Sting's vocals that got quite the workout during the non-stop show.

The Police churned out a total of 21 hits during the concert, four during its encore that included "King of Pain," "So Lonely," "Every Breath You Take" and ending with a hard-rocking version of "Next to You," fitting for a crowd that had clearly bonded with the band.

The last tune included a backdrop of black-and-white footage from the group's heyday in the mid 1980s, when the love affair with many fans began.

Clearly, the love never went away for thousands who regard the Police as one of the most revered bands of the 80s.

The trio that reportedly had an acrimonious split before mending fences, were having as good a time as their fans.

All three held hands and bowed to the audience before hugging each other and walking off the stage after Copeland sent out a few victory yells.

Several generations of Police fans packed Vancouver's GM Place to catch the kickoff of the mega-band's world tour.

Vince Dovidio, 50, said the trio were better than he'd expected.

"They sounded really tight and put together. I just thought it was so well done and for them to play two hours straight without a break or anything was really unbelievable."

Dovidio said he didn't think the band would ever reunite after 23 years but were obviously glad they did.

"They looked like they really enjoyed being together. They looked good together, they looked happy and the crowd got into it because of that."

James Lumsden, 22, wasn't yet born when the Police broke up.

Lumsden said he got into their music from hearing it on the radio, from friends and because his mom likes the music.

"I really enjoyed the fact that Sting's guitar and shirt looked like he had saved them from the 70s," he said.

Lumsden said he enjoyed the show so much that he'd go again at the band's next sold-out Vancouver show on Wednesday if he had tickets.

Dietmar Cloes flew from Germany to catch all three of the Police's Vancouver shows - including a private concert for fan club members on Sunday, fulfilling a lifetime dream.

"I had to see them once in my life," he said.

"I'm such a big fan, I collect every bit. But one thing was missing and that was a live concert."

The band's exclusive fan-only Sunday show was a bit of a disappointment but Cloes had higher hopes for the other performances.

Dave Olson, 39, of North Vancouver, said he didn't sense this tour was a cash-grab.

"A lot of times when bands get back together I say it's because someone's got alimony payments," he said. "But it doesn't seem like it so much this time."

The long-awaited reunion tour kicked off with the son of Sting fronting the opening act.

Fiction Plane's lead vocalist and bassist Joe Sumner flew on to the stage Monday night sounding hauntingly similar to his father, also known as Gordon Sumner.

The younger Sumner joined bandmates guitarist Seton Daunt and drummer Pete Wilhoit with hits from their second CD "Left Side of the Brain."

From Vancouver, the Police will head to Edmonton and later hit Montreal and Toronto.

Media from across Europe covered the first stop on a tour that will include cities in North and South America, Europe and Australia by the time it wraps in early 2008.

Gwen Stefani concert 15 go to hospital for alcohol related illness

Alcohol-related illnesses at arts center concert sent 15 to hospital
Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 05/25/07

KEYPORT BUREAU

Post Comment
HOLMDEL — Bayshore Community Hospital treated 15 concertgoers, 13 of them minors, for
alcohol-related illnesses following PNC Bank Arts Center's season-opener on Friday night, a hospital spokeswoman said Thursday.

The high number of teenagers imbibing heavily at the Gwen Stefani show prompted Turnpike Authority officials and State Police to meet Thursday to discuss a solution.

"After talking with the State Police, there is an acknowledgment that there is a
problem," said Joe Orlando, spokesman for the Turnpike Authority. "The next show at the arts center isn't until June 6 and we're working to try and have a plan in place."

Another meeting is planned with Live Nation, which leases the arts center from the
authority. State Police, asked Thursday to provide information on enforcement at the show, did not respond to several calls from a reporter.

Chris Domalewski, the hospital spokeswoman, said she could not discuss the nature of the alcohol-related problems.

Assemblywoman Amy H. Handlin, R-Monmouth, said she received an e-mail stating that an 11-year-old had been taken to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. At Thursday night's Holmdel Township Committee meeting, Mayor Serena DiMaso also said the youngest person taken to the hospital after Friday's show was 11.

Holmdel police Lt. Frank Allocco said his department was informed Friday night by hospital security of the number of juveniles being brought to the hospital from the amphitheater. He said no charges were filed.

State Police have jurisdiction over arts center grounds. But Holmdel police must respond when problems arise at the hospital, Allocco said.

"Over the years there have been a number of incidents where our patrols have had to go down to the hospital when there were disorderly or intoxicated subjects brought in from the arts center," he said.

Committeeman Terence Wall, a member of Holmdel's first-aid squad, said underage drinking and alcohol-related issues have been plaguing the facility for some time.

"There were calls where we had to attend to folks that were drunk and handcuffed to the walls of bathrooms," he said. "There were situations where patrons were drunk and bleeding and trying to hit the volunteers while handcuffed to the wall."

Wall said the Township Committee is considering asking police to set up a checkpoint at the Parkway access road after shows to catch drunken drivers.

Saturday's performance, headlined by rock group Heaven and Hell, also drew its fair share of rowdy concertgoers. Holmdel police on Saturday received three reports of disorderly conduct at the hospital, one in response to an 18-year-old.

In a May 22 letter to the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, Handlin asked that the arts center's liquor license be revoked. If it is renewed, she asks that the arts center be required to "assume financial responsibility for adequate surveillance and security, both inside the complex and in the parking areas."

"The lawlessness and utter chaos on the premises must be addressed immediately," Handlin said Thursday. "No excuses and delays are acceptable. The situation is already intolerable and the concert season has already begun."

Maureen Sczpanski, a spokeswoman for the ABC, said the department had received Handlin's letter and is looking into the matter.

Scheduled to appear:

Daddy Yankee With over 15 years of upward growth in the entertainment industry and the Latin music scene, Daddy Yankee has developed to be one of the most respected and influential Reggaeton artists. He played a primary role in legitimizing the music style. Now, with major-label backing of Universal, Barrio Fino became the first Reggaeton album to debut at number one on the Billboard chart.

Wisín & Yandel are a bright hot comet of rhythm and dynamic energy making their mark in a genre that fuels today's hottest musical movement, Reggaeton. Setting themselves apart with music so unique that it has the ability to cross gender lines and appeal to all races and ages, Wisín & Yandel have quickly become household names on the music scene and as respected artists. They have raised the bar and set the standard as the first rappers to receive a nomination to the prestigious Billboard Awards, and have seen all of their albums go gold and continue to strive not only for excellence amongst their peers but amongst their fans they will continue to deliver their own brand of Reggaeton, determined to keep us not only dancing, but expecting from them the same degree of excellence that they expect from themselves.

Don Omar became one of Reggaeton's first international superstars, thanks to his early-2000s work with Luny Tunes but even more so thanks to "Reggaeton Latino," his 2005 anthem that became one of the style's first genuine crossover hits. Born William Landrón in Villa Palmeras, Puerto Rico, Omar involved himself in the church at a young age. He became a preacher, in fact, and it was in this role that he began honing his performance ability as well as his deep insight into the human soul. His album debut, The Last Don, was a landmark for the Reggaeton movement, which was then just beginning to make inroads into the lucrative stateside market. The success of "Reggaeton Latino" affirmed Omar's status alongside Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderón as one of Reggaeton's true leaders, and of them, he was clearly the revolutionary: a man of passion with a voice that sought to uplift his people to brighter days, not unlike what he had sought to do in his previous profession as a preacher, except now with an emphasis on the secular rather than non-secular, and with a much, much larger following.

The bid for Super Bowl 2001: Nick Calderone's Reporter's Notebook

Dallas will host the 2011 Super Bowl, beating out Arizona and Indianapolis.

The NFL's 32 owners voted Tuesday to award the big game to Dallas, said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in Nashville, where the league was holding its annual spring meeting. advertisement

"While we are disappointed not to be hosting Super Bowl XLV, we are in a great position for future games," Mike Kennedy, chairman of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, said in a statement. "Arizona is in the Super Bowl business. It's not a matter of 'if' the big game returns, it's a matter of 'when'."

Earlier Tuesday, Kennedy and host committee President Bob Sullivan made a 15-minute presentation to NFL owners. It was followed by a five-minute presentation by Arizona Cardinals Vice President and General Counsel Michael Bidwill.

The 2008 game will be played in February at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

U2 goes 3D for new film By Mike Collett-White

Irish band U2 gets the digital 3D treatment in a new film that its makers say is a pioneering recreation of a live concert.

"U2 3D," shot in South America during the band's "Vertigo" tour, seeks to recreate the atmosphere of a gig and take fans on a thrilling visual ride.

The film combines camera angles that soar over the audience of up to 80,000, zoom in to within inches of the performers, join them on stage and look back into the stadium.

At one point, U2's lead singer Bono reaches out towards the 3D camera and looks as if he is about to step into the cinema.

Journalists at a preview screening of a 55-minute version of what will eventually be an 80-90 minute picture, were given glasses through which to view the film and were generally impressed with the authenticity of the images and sound.

The film's backers say "U2 3D" is part of a revolution in the industry leading to more 3D productions and ever more elaborate techniques.

"Not every film will benefit, in my opinion, from 3D technology," said executive producer Sandy Climan.

"I think when you have the choice of 3D and 2D, you will choose 3D overwhelmingly," he told a news conference. "You ain't seen nothing yet."

The band had been due to appear before the press, but their plane was delayed. They are in Cannes for Saturday's official late evening screening of the film, however.

Producer John Modell described the technology used in "U2 3D" as a sea change from what came before.

"We are replicating the physiology of sight, and that's a very tricky thing to do," Modell said. "If you get it off by just a hair it creates actual physical problems -- eye strain, nausea. We don't have that at all."

One possible limit on the film's box office prospects is the limited number of appropriate 3D cinemas across the world, although Climan said he expected the number to grow rapidly in the United States and elsewhere.

The digital 3D film is expected to be released internationally in around 1,000 theatres equipped with digital projection systems. It will be shown only in 3D.

"U2 3D" is one of several rock-related pictures at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

"Control," a biopic about Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, has been widely praised by critics. Late on Saturday Finnish Eurovision Song Contest winners Lordi are performing on the beach to promote their upcoming horror movie.

Game Day InfoSite: University of Phoenix Stadium - Glendale, Arizona
Date: February 3, 2008
Kick-off: 4:18 p.m. (6:18 p.m. EST)
Television: FOX

Bruce Springsteen and Norah Jones are at the top of the list. The NFL is hoping the recent successes of Prince, the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney can be used as leverage to bring in the Boss while Jones would be ideal to sing the National Anthem during the pregame ceremonies, according to NFL VP of programming Charles Coplin.

Rumson NJ native Bruce Springsteen has eluded the NFL for nearly 20 years, but this might just be the year we are hearing from our friends at the Jersey Shore....

Jim Steeg,( formerly of Rumson NJ) the man responsible for turning the Super Bowl into the world’s premiere sporting event, was named executive vice president and chief operating of the San Diego Chargers a while back but i hear they are talking stay tuned

Prince has shown the Boss how cool the half time show can be ...

As the first stadium in North America to feature a retractable roof and a roll-out grass field, the stadium is the home of the Arizona Cardinals, as well as the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Every four years, the facility will host the NCAA's BCS National Championship football game. And of course, Super Bowl XLII will be played in University of Phoenix Stadium on Feb. 3, 2008.

The real-life tale of composer Kurt Weill and his wife and muse Lotte Lenya is the top nomination grabber in the race for another high profile award -- the Drama Desk -- where it received 12 nods. But in the Tony race it walks away with only four nominations.

Will 'Sopranos' whack Tonys awards show? tickets anyone ?

Will 'Sopranos' whack Tonys awards show?
LindaWiner

Broadway has just finished one of its most fiercely competitive seasons in years. When the nominations for Tony Awards are announced Tuesday, however, the most brutal contest won't make the list in any category.

Call it Tony versus Tony: that's Tony Soprano against the Tony Awards.

In a scheduling coincidence that seems a bit like a death wish, CBS will run its annual Tony telecast June 10 - the same night as the final episode of HBO's eight-year saga of "The Sopranos."

Perhaps it is unrealistic to expect Broadway to change the date of its biggest national marketing tool because of a series about mobsters on pay cable. Granted, the schedule conflict may not have been apparent early on, before taping of the long-delayed final episodes was further postponed while James Gandolfini, Big Tony himself, recuperated from knee surgery last January.

But Broadway has been struggling for decades to brand itself on the distracted consciousness of pop culture. Despite the slide in ratings for the first three of the final nine episodes of "The Sopranos," anyone with the slightest interest will tune in to see the final whack.

Faced with an oncoming truck, theater producers and execs at Radio City Music Hall and CBS might have been wise to have made a run for their lives and switched the date. Of course, getting out of the way would have meant a blitzkrieg of costly headaches. But can you think of a smarter headline than "Broadway Dodges a Bullet"?

Elizabeth McCann, managing producer of the Tony telecast for the past five years, chuckles at the suggestion that the show could have been reslotted to avoid a mob hit. "CBS picks the date," she says, acknowledging that "The Sopranos" will have an "enormous audience" on her big night. "Still, we have survived basketball finals and 'Desperate Housewives' at its peak."

The live Tony ceremony also has to contend again this year with the boggling traffic logistics of the Puerto Rican Day Parade, which falls on the same Sunday.

Putting the best face on the likely ratings disaster, McCann says, "People who watch the Tonys will probably still watch the Tonys."

But those are not the people Broadway most craves. The telecast, once a popular family attraction, had just begun to stop a long-term slide in national viewership. The 2006 show was watched by 7.8 million people, up 20 percent over the previous two years.

That isn't much compared to the 1997 spike to 9.6 million at the peak of Rosie O'Donnell's reign as Broadway's biggest booster. Put even that tally next to 1977's, when an audience of 11.3 million was considered disappointing, and you see how far interest has drifted.

Much has been made about audiences abandoning "The Sopranos" this season. For the third week in a row, viewership has fallen. Last Sunday averaged 6.8 million watchers, down from 7.7 million for the season opener.

As "Sopranos" fans know, however, we don't have to reschedule Sunday dinner to catch the 9 p.m. show anymore. Almost 16 percent of Americans have TiVo or DVR, compared with only 5 percent this time last year. Those who lack the capability to "time-shift" digitally can catch any of five repeat airings during the week.

Also, starting each Monday, HBO's 30 million subscribers can watch that Sunday's episode anytime by clicking "On Demand."

How many people will wait to find out whether Tony Soprano dies or goes into the witness protection program? How many will watch HBO and tape the Tony Awards to see the old news another day? And the winner is ... ? Guess.

Smashing Pumpkins announce eight more comeback shows

Smashing Pumpkins announce eight more comeback shows go to www.tixx.com
The comeback for The Smashing Pumpkins, or what Billy Corgan is calling The Smashing Pumpkins, starts soon as the band announced eight San Francisco shows at the Fillmore from July 22nd to August 1st to follow up a similar set in North Carolina. Tickets will go on sale Sunday, May 20th at 10am on Ticketmaster or Live Nation's website for $25 a piece, limit two per person for the Frisco shows. According to the press release, The Smashing Pumpkins will play old favorites, songs from their new CD called Zeitgeist, which will be release on July 10th, and even tunes written on the day of the show. The set list for The Smashing Pumpkins comeback tour will vary from night to night.

The set of Fillmore shows by The Smashing Pumpkins will take place on July 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 31, and August 1st. Mark your calendars. The Fillmore shows will be the second set of marathon performances by The Smashing Pumpkins, but their first on the West Coast. From June 23-July 5th, The Smashing Pumpkins will play at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina. The Smashing Pumpkins shows at the Fillmore will be their first since April of 1994, when they played the reopening of the historic venue.

The Smashing Pumpkins broke up in 2000 when Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin and D'Arcy Wretzky went their separate ways. The new band only features Corgan and Chamberlin, which makes calling them The Smashing Pumpkins a little suspect. Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky brought a lot to the band, which made legions of fans with Siamese Dream, Gish, and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Billy Corgan announced in July of 2005 that he was reuniting The Smashing Pumpkins. He wrote in a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune, "For a year now, I have walked around with a secret, a secret I chose to keep. But now I want you to be among the first to know that I have made plans to renew and revive the Smashing Pumpkins. I want my band back, and my songs, and my dreams."

The reunion of The Smashing Pumpkins wasn't confirmed until about a year ago in April of 2006 on the band's official website. A post read, "It's official. The Smashing Pumpkins are currently writing songs for their upcoming album, their first since 1999." The website also reports that the band worked with Roy Thomas Baker, who produced many Queen albums, and Terry Date, who worked with Pantera and Soundgarden, on Zeitgeist. The first performance by The Smashing Pumpkins will be on May 22nd in Paris, France.

Hit singles by The Smashing Pumpkins that they may now perform for the first time this millennium include "Siva," "Cherub Rock," "Today," "Disarm," "Rocket," "Landslide," "Bullet with Butterfly Wings," "1979," "Zero," "Tonight, Tonight," "Thirty-Three," "The End is the Beginning Is the End," "Ava Adore," and "Perfect." A new track called "Tarantula" was leaked from Zeitgeist. The Smashing Pumpkins are back.

Written by: Daniel Pena - May 12th, 2007

sources: PWInsider.com, Wrestling Observer

At the WWE 2007 shareholders meeting yesterday, Vince McMahon addressed the possibility of WWE being broadcast in High-Definition television. McMahon said WWE will be going to High-Definition within the next year and they have tested it. He said that the product looks amazing under that format but they don't want to be too far ahead of the curve because that costs you money, while being too far behind gives the impression you aren't on the cutting edge. McMahon said they feel they are dead on in terms of timing right now.

We don't have any numbers for how well The Condemned performed at the box office yesterday in its third week of release because it didn't rank within the top 13 movie grosses for the day. According to BoxOfficeMojo.com, the 13th highest grossing movie at the box office yesterday was Lucky You, which made the tidy sum of $360,000. The Condemned will probably be out of theatres by next week as its down to less than 600 theatres nationwide.

The future of Music is Sonos Ipod is Yesterday

The minute you took your new Sonos® system out of the box or updated your software to Sonos v2.0, your free 30-day Rhapsody® Trial was ready to go. Now, it's your turn to start listening to all those songs, all over your house.

Simply pick up your Sonos Controller, hit the music button and you'll see the Rhapsody Trial. Now select the Rhapsody Music Guide and browse for your favorite artists, albums, genres, and more

I just got this system it is the best money i have ever spent on Music...it makes I Tunes seems like an over priced 8 track player.

No wonder Steve Jobs is trying to get rid of copy protection, you have to be nuts to buy songs on itunes and not be able to put them on any player you want.

Modern upscale homes are often coming equipped with distributed audio systems, which have traditionally relied upon multi-zone electronics driving long cables throughout the house. There are many offerings available from a variety of well established companies. However, most of these systems require wall panel controllers and a central distribution hub. A company called Sonos has introduced their solution which leverages from standard home networks using CAT5 cables or wireless 802.11b WiFi connectivity. We first saw the Sonos Digital Music Server demonstrated at the 2004 Electronic House Expo in Long Beach, California over a year ago. The system had an impressive wireless handheld controller with a detailed color LCD display providing feedback to the user. Naturally, we were excited to get our hands on a system for review. Our patience paid off when we received the long-awaited Sonos package (specially priced at $1199) that included two ZP100 ZonePlayers ($499 each) and the CR100 Controller ($399). Almost as amazing as the features offered by Sonos was the ease of setting up the system. It took less than 15 minutes to get the audio up and running. The user is required to connect at least one of the ZonePlayers to a wired ethernet connection. The other ZonePlayers (up to 32 in all) have the option of wired or wireless connections. The Sonos system does not hold the music, but instead accesses the content through the network connection using a PC, Mac or Network Attached Storage box. We used our existing file server PC running Windows XP to distribute our music. Sonos supports compressed MP3, WMA, AAC (MPEG4), Ogg Vorbis, and Flac (lossless) music files as well as uncompressed WAV and AIFF files. The latest firmware update (Version 1.3) now offers support for Apple Lossless Codec. Additional enhancements have also made their way into the latest firmware update including better playback control and larger cover art.

Software
Setting up the system is easy and fully supports PC or Mac systems. If neither is available and the music files are hosted on a network-based hard drive, the handheld CR100 controller can be used to identify the ZonePlayers. We used our Sony Vaio laptop to run the Desktop Controller software. It was obvious to us that Sonos dedicated a lot of time and effort in the development of their software to make it user friendly. It has been completely stable throughout our review period (2 months) and is feature rich. Each ZonePlayer location can be named and later identified in the Zone menu. The Desktop Controller software gives the user full control of the Sonos system. Playlist files created with third-party software such as iTunes, WinAmp and Windows Media Player can be imported.

The Sonos software also supports protected content using Rhapsody 3.0 from Real.com. Setting this up requires more effort, but we were able to stream content from the Rhapsody music site with our trial subscription. Music quality from this site was reasonably good, but not quite as impressive as music we encoded at higher bitrates (320kb/s).

Navigating through the Desktop Controller software was intuitive. The left side of the window displays the zones defined by the user. The center portion of the screen displays the "Now Playing" music cover art along with artist, album and track information. Also included is the music queue with the ability for the user to remove tracks as well as clear or save the queue. The right side of the user interface displays the library content grouped by Artist, Albums, Genre, Composers, Tracks and Playlists.

Controller
The CR100 controller is an ergonomically designed unit with an impressive looking LCD display. Similar music information found on the computer's main software screen is also provided on the wireless portable controller. A total of nine backlit buttons and three soft buttons located below the screen are provided. Volume and mute buttons are located on the left side with standard controls for selecting and playing tracks on the right. Navigating through the menu system is made easy with the iPod-like navigation wheel built into the unit with the center select button. The Zones button selects the zone while the Music button chooses the audio content by Music Library, Playlists, Internet Radio stations or Line input. A built-in light sensor automatically illuminates the keys when low ambient light is detected. The LCD display and button backlight levels can be adjust through the settings menu. Powered by a rechargeable Li-Ion Polymer, factory-replaceable battery, the CR100 controller has a battery level indicator on the top right corner of the screen. When charging the unit, the top right indicator illuminates orange. Once the unit is fully charged, the indicator illuminates green.

The Controller provided excellent two-way communication in every room inside of our home. Most wireless products run into reception problems at extreme ends of our single-story house, but the Sonos CR100 communicated with the ZonePlayers without a problem. In addition, our second CR100 Controller worked seamlessly with the first, allowing us to have both controllers operating different zones in the house simultaneously. When viewing the same ZonePlayer on the two different controller screens, one controller updates accordingly with the other used to control the music.

Linking Zones
Using the Link Zone feature, users can link some or all of the listening zones to a single group. This is particularly useful when having a party or when one might be moving from one room to another within the house and would like to hear the same music. At the same time it is possible for one or more of the other zones to be running fully independent audio streams. The controller clearly shows which zones are linked and what music is currently playing on each zone. In addition, the mode (Stop, Play or Pause) is also indicated on the screen next to each zone grouping. The Drop Zone button is visible when more than one zone is assigned to a given group. Pressing this button allows the user to release a zone.

Linking Volumes
Controlling the volume level of all linked zones is easy using the Group Volume control. The Group Volume control appears as part of the individual volume levels when multiple zones are linked in a group. The volume for each zone within a group can be individually set and are globally controlled using the Group Volume. If the Group Volume level is set to the maximum, all zones are also set to the maximum levels. When the Group Volume is reduced, all zones are reduced equally even though the initial values may have been different from one another. The implementation of the level controls proved to work very well in our setup.

Charging Cradle (CC100)
One thing became apparent when we used the handheld controller. We did not like having to connect and disconnect the power plug to the unit each time we wanted to charge it. Luckily, Sonos recently introduced the much anticipated Charging Cradle (CC100), designed specifically for the CR100 controller. The CC100 is simply a docking station that uses the controller's existing AC adapter to power two metal contacts at the base of the unit. The power jack attaches to the bottom of the unit as seen here. Once set up, the user can place the CR100 controller in the cradle and the unit charges through these contacts. The cradle is also a convenient way of holding the controller for easy viewing. The $49.99 price tag seems steep for a piece of plastic, but is an essential part of the system. The CC100 package also includes a bracket with anchors and screws for wall mounting the unit. Not only does the new cradle look good, but it makes using the controller simple with easy docking. We chose to use the cradle on our table without mounting it to a wall.

Installation
The ZonePlayer is a compact design measuring 10.2" wide, 8.2" deep (including speaker terminals) and 4.4" tall. Our setup included a pair of Klipsch RB-15 compact bookshelf speakers for our initial testing. ZonePlayers can go anywhere AC power is available and connect wirelessly when a wired Ethernet connection is not available. Our setup used a wired connection for each of our ZonePlayers. Each ZonePlayer is identified by pressing the Mute and Volume Up buttons simultaneously. This lets the Desktop Controller software identify the location of each of the ZonePlayers during the setup process. Both our Controller and ZonePlayers required a firmware update that was automatically detected by the software. We were prompted to proceed with the update and the latest data code was transferred from the Sonos website.

The front panel has a white indicator when the unit is online. This light can be disabled if it causes a distraction in environments such as home theaters. The green Mute light will illuminate on the front panel when the user activates mute on the ZonePlayer. Both the Controller (CR100) and the ZonePlayers (ZP100) are Linux-based products based on a 2.4 version of the kernel. Using the Sonosnet™ system, each of the ZonePlayers form a self-configuring secure peer-to-peer wireless mesh. This allows different audio streams to flow to and from each zone. Each ZonePlayer also serves as an access point for the handheld controller.

Connections
The rear panel of the ZonePlayer has a detachable power cord with an input voltage selector switch (115VAC/230VAC). A pair of speaker outputs designed to provide 50W minimum RMS per channel into 8 ohms and a pair of line level outputs are also provided. A line-level subwoofer output is also provided for powered subwoofers and can be especially important when using main speakers that lack low frequency response. This autosensing output automatically applies an 80 Hertz crossover to the main and subwoofer outputs. The latest firmware update (Version 1.3) allows the line level outputs to be fixed or variable using the Sonos volume control.

The rear panel also includes a 4-port ethernet switch which allows other wired ethernet products to use the same network drop. An autosensing pair of analog inputs is detected by the ZonePlayer and can be used as an audio source for any of the other ZonePlayers. We connected our multi-zone Antex SRX-3 TriplePlay SIRIUS® receiver to supply programming to other zones in the Sonos network. Users have access to Internet radio stations preprogrammed into the Sonos offering a variety of music.

Conclusion
We have seen many distributed audio systems over the years and some have had impressive features. The main drawback of the more sophisticated products is the complexity and/or the price. In addition, the vast majority require custom installation to maximize their capabilities and are not always available directly to the consumer. The Sonos Digital Music system is designed for anyone who wants to set up and stream music to multiple locations in their home or office using wired ethernet or wireless 802.11b (WiFi). The clever design includes a wireless handheld controller with an attractive color display completely capable of showing the cover art of your CDs. The system is very intuitive and we had the system up and running in less than 30-minutes with minimal use of the manuals. Mac users can rejoice because Sonos is completely compatible with both PCs and Macs.

The bundled package priced at $1,199.00 includes a single handheld wireless Controller, and two ZonePlayers offering customers a savings of $200.00 compared to purchasing the components separately. Having seen so many options for distributing audio in today's homes, I can't think of a better all-around product than the Sonos Digital Music System. The product is not only well-engineered with excellent build quality, but it offers customers the sonic performance and features the set it apart from anything else we have seen. Finally a product that both you and your spouse can enjoy.

Bon Jovi to rock New Jersey this fall 10 nights new arena

Bon Jovi set to open 'The Rock'

Newark, N.J. | New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi will be the first act to rock "The Rock," the state's newest arena, officials announced.

The band will play several shows at the Prudential Center starting Oct. 26, said Pat Smith, a spokesman for AEG New York/New Jersey, part of Anschutz Entertainment Group, which is booking concerts and special events for the arena. The number of shows has not been determined, he said.

The $365-million arena, which will be home to the New Jersey Devils of the NHL, is under construction in downtown Newark. It can seat 19,500 for concerts.

The band, whose hits include You Give Love a Bad Name, includes lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, a native of Sayreville.

for ticket information go to

The group has performed at the state’s largest concert venue, Giants Stadium, many times – most recently, last summer. Initially known as a pop-metal band in the 1980s, the group became more of a mainstream-rock act in the 1990s, and has recently had some success on the country charts, too. Group members have always taken obvious pride in their Jersey roots, and even titled their 1988 album “New Jersey.”

Bon Jovi will doubtless fill the 18,000 seats at the Prudential Arena, which is huge for Newark: even if a fraction of concert-goers stick around to check out downtown or eat in the Ironbound restaurants, we should see some serious revenue for local businesses.

The Kentucky Derby tickets, buying tips a once in a lifetime trip !

Derby 2007 - Where do you want to sit?

Acquiring a ticket to the Derby is a somewhat complicated thing, especially if you’ve never attended. There many different areas, amenities, privileges and options. As a Louisville area company with over 25 years experience in Derby seating, we have all the answers. If you don’t find out what you need to know on DerbyBox.com then just pick up the phone and call one of our Derby specialists toll free at 1-800-688-4000 or email us at tickets@tixx.com. In this edition of our blog we will look at special areas that offer dining and waiter/waitress options.

Special Note: Infield Bleachers. If you’ve sat in the sections 10, 11 or 12 called Infield Bleachers in the past or if you’ve seen them on some other internet sites as looking like a good priced ticket, BEWARE! For the 2007 Derby there are no Infield Bleachers seats available. The Downs has done away with those in favor of more of those corporate, temporary hospitality suites. Again, this is information you can only obtain via http://www.tixx.com

The Downs Floor Layouts

1st Floor | 2nd Floor | 3rd Floor - Premium Indoor Boxes | 4th Floor - Millionaires Row | 4th Floor - Jockey Club Suites | 5th Floor - Finish Line Suites | 5th Floor - Jockey Club Suites | 6th Floor - Millionaires Row | 6th Floor - Jockey Club Suites

Millionaires Row / Sky Terrace

The seating area synonymous with the Derby and The Downs is Millionaires Row. So just what is Millionaires Row and what it the difference in what is listed as Sky Terrace? Until the massive 2004 construction took place at Churchill, the term Millionaires Row was just a nickname. It was not officially used on tickets or seating charts. All Seats on 4th, 5th and 6th floors were called the Sky Terrace. When they remodeled they decided to officially name the new section up there Millionaires IV (4th floor) and Millionaires VI (6th floor). What remained or the “old sections of 4th, 5th and 6th floors was labeled Sky Terrace and were identified by sections (412, 413, 613, 614 etc).

On Derby Day you’ll likely see Bo Derek, Michael Jordan, Dennis Hopper or Donald Trump in either area. Seating is at 8 seat tables where you enjoy waiter/waitress service, access to a full bar and can order form the menu. To view the races, head out to the balcony area to view. The big difference between Sky Terrace and Millionaires row are three things. 1, Millionaires Row is new, more modern, plusher more TV’s ect. 2. Millionaires Row is more like a Big Dining hall whereas the Sky Terrace is a long narrow room with two rows of tables. 3. Millionaires Row is situated more in direct view of the Finish Line where the Sky Terrace is beyond the wire.

Ticket Prices are slightly higher for Millionaires Row but both offer excellent opportunities to enjoy the festivities in grand style or to entertain guest’s clients and important customers as well. A word of note, the best seats in Millionaires Row IV and VI are the ones closest to the glass. Look for row “A” tables.

Turf Club tickets call 1.800.688.4000

The Turf Club is a private “club” for members only, but of course if you have a ticket on Derby or Oaks day, you’re in! These are tables of 6’s and 4’s in which the room is located on the 3rd floor clubhouse just above section 317 on the wire. A lavish gourmet buffet is included with your ticket but you will have to pay your served for drinks. Celebrities like Payton Manning, Pamela Anderson and George Straight usually have tables in the TC. To view the races you can roam just about anywhere at the track as your ticket/armband allows access to all areas. Usually the highest priced ticket for Derby and Oaks. Extreme comfort and luxury.

Matt Winn Dining Room

The Matt Winn Room is an exclusive dining area located on the 3rd floor Clubhouse, just behind the Interior Premium Boxes, and next to the Turf Club. Enjoy a lavish gourmet buffet in climate controlled setting with waiter/waitress service similar to that of the Turf Club. To view the races you’re free to roam all throughout the 3rd floor Clubhouse or you can go downstairs to the paddock as well. A very good bang for the buck as prices for Matt Winn are somewhat less than Turf Club but you get almost the same amenities.

Interior Premium Boxes for the Derby call 1-800-688-4000

These 8 Seat boxes are tucked behind the 3rd floor Clubhouse Boxes of 315-316. Indoor, climate-controlled setting in a glass enclosed specially constructed new area. What’s unique about these seats is you have in-seat wait service and food and beverages are brought right to your box. Many of our corporate clients love this feature as it allows them to put all charges on 1 bill and pay for their guests on Credit Card. TV monitors and betting machines are also equipped in your box. Unlike Turf Club or Matt Winn, you view the races direct from your seat.

Clubhouse / Grandstand what’s the difference?

Clubhouse tickets for the Kentucky Derby call 1.800.688.4000 or by online at www.season-tickets.com

For great views of the race minus some of the lavish VIP amenities, Clubhouse Box seats are your best bet.

Clubhouse sections are on the 1st-3rd floors of the Clubhouse at The Downs and include sections 312-321, 218 & 220 and 111-118.

Most all Boxes are 6 seat boxes. They all have chair backs and are more comfortable and festive than the grandstand bleachers. There are 8 seat boxes in the 3rd floor Finish Line area. The First floor Clubhouse boxes are predominately out in the open whereas the 3rd floor boxes are mostly under cover. We can accommodate both sections. The 3rd floor offers the best view while the 1st floor is somewhat more festive as its closer to the track. The Clubhouse offers a more “dressed up” selection of amenities. The food and beverage options, betting windows and restrooms are more plentiful and accessible than the grandstand.

Keep in mind, you can always move down at The Downs. If you have seats on the 3rd floor you are free to move down to the 2nd floor of the Clubhouse or 2nd-floor Clubhouse Box seats. The same is true for 2nd-floor Clubhouse seats, meaning you also get access to the 1st floor of the Clubhouse and 1st-floor-Clubhouse-Box sections or walk over to the Grandstand if needed.

Grandstand

For great views of the race at some of the best prices available, try Grandstand seating in the 100, 200 and 300 Grandstand sections. You're on your own for food, drinks and betting, but you still get great views of the race from the front stretch, just before the finish line.

The seating from 119-128 and 221-225 are all bench type bleachers whereas the 3rd floor grandstand sections 322-325 are 6 seat, chair back boxes. Remember, if you have grandstand seats, you cannot move over to the clubhouse.

Derby Seating Secrets and extras

“Walk-Around” tickets are a great way of getting that extra person or two into your box. If you have 7 or 8 in a group and you want a Derby Box. Just purchase a “walk around” and allow that person to share your box. Not all of your people will always be in the box and its easy to move the chairs abound to accommodate. Again, Derby Box has all sorts of “walks” for Derby and Oaks.

When you enter your seating area at The for the Derby and Oaks you will receive an arm band of a specific color allowing you in that area.

The Downs has done a great job at keeping the Derby an event that everyone can enjoy. From general admission tickets along the rail in the infield to VIP, celeb-spotting tables in the Turf Club, there are a lot of options to choose from. If you have any questions regarding your Derby tickets purchase or you're looking for tickets in a section we've not covered here, please do not hesitate to call us at 732.280.3434.

We want your experience to reflect the honor, tradition and spectacle that is the Derby. If you have any questions one of our knowledgeable Derby Representatives will be happy to assist you in choosing the perfect seating to ensure your visit to The Downs is unforgettable. Please keep in mind that we are a National company and have direct experience with Derby seating for over 25 years. No where else will you get the expertise associated with making your Derby experience
The most famous guest at this year's Kentucky Derby will make her stay in Louisville a short one.

Queen Elizabeth II of England is expected to arrive at Louisville International Airport on Saturday afternoon and head to Churchill Downs, then return to the airport hours later for her departure.
Rande Swann, an airport spokeswoman, predicted there would be minimal impact on other travelers, largely because most race fans arrive earlier in the week and won't leave town until Sunday.
Swann said there won't be any public access at the airport for the visit.
Police said they will close interstate highways near the airport and the racetrack briefly during the queen's arrival and departure.
Koenig Loignon said the queen and her husband, Prince Philip, will watch the 133rd Run for the Roses from a dining room in the clubhouse. From the infield, the royal couple will be to the left of the Twin Spires, on either the fourth, fifth or sixth floors.
"She'll have a very good view," Koenig Loignon said. "Close to the finish line."

Bruce Springsteen photog takes the offical photos of The Queen

How queen of the lens snapped a royal portrait for American visitWill Pavia
She has photographed Whoopi Goldberg in a bath of milk, Clint Eastwood bound with ropes and the actress Roseanne Barr mud wrestling, but when America’s leading celebrity photographer arrived at Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty probably had something more traditional in mind.

Annie Leibovitz, who made her name with outlandish photographs of America’s most famous people, had been commissioned to take an official portrait to mark the Queen’s forthcoming state visit to the US.

The photographer drew up at the Palace with her retinue on March 28 and was shown into the White Drawing Room.

Leibovitz’s shoots are noted for their extravagance: typically she commands vast budgets and fleets of panicking assistants. She has been known to charge more than $100,000 (£50,000) a day.

I like the photo, do you ?

Jersey Boys to play Las Vegas The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino

The much-anticipated opening of The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas just got bigger with the addition of the Tony-Award winning smash hit musical, Jersey Boys. The perennially sold-out show based on the life story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has taken Broadway by storm and now has set its sights on Las Vegas, opening on the Strip in early 2008.

"With advance ticket sales over $30 million on Broadway we are confident that visitors from all over the world will come to see what is currently the hottest ticket on Broadway," said Rob Goldstein, president of The Venetian and The Palazzo. "Jersey Boys appeals to a wide range of audiences, beyond the traditional theatergoer. The spectacular musical is the type of entertainment that has become the hallmark of The Venetian: award-winning, great quality and distinctive. We expect The Palazzo, together with The Venetian, to continue to be the preeminent entertainment destination in Las Vegas."

Jersey Boys, which opened to rave reviews on November 6, 2005, continues to set weekly box office records and has been among the top grossing shows on Broadway ever since. As well as being a critical and audience favorite, the show won four 2006 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The original Broadway cast recording on Rhino Records won the Grammy Award for Best Show Recording and remains one of the best-selling show CDs in the US.

The smash hit musical follows the rags-to-riches tale of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, four blue-collar kids working their way from the streets of Newark to the heights of stardom, and features such hits as "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," "Oh, What a Night," and many more.

The Broadway creative team, including director Des McAnuff, choreographer Sergio Trujillo, authors Marshall Brickman & Rick Elice, and The Four Seasons, will be directly involved in the Las Vegas production of Jersey Boys.

"BASE Entertainment and our producing partners Michael David and The Dodgers are extremely excited to be bringing this smash hit to, what we expect will be, the most luxurious resort in Las Vegas," said Scott Zeiger, co-CEO of BASE Entertainment. "The state-of-the-art theater housing this production will serve as a perfect setting for this extraordinary show."

"The Palazzo is a stand-alone resort currently being built by Las Vegas Sands Corp. (NYSE:LVS) in the heart of the famed Las Vegas Strip. When combined with the neighboring Venetian and Sands Expo and Convention Center, The Palazzo will give the company the largest hotel and convention complex in the world. In addition to Jersey Boys, the $1.8 billion Palazzo will feature more than 3,000 all-suite rooms and offer its new shopping, dining and entertainment on two luxurious levels. The 450,000-square-foot retail space, The Shoppes at The Palazzo(TM) will be highlighted by Barneys New York and connected to The Venetian via The Grand Canal Shoppes. It will house approximately 60 high-end and mid-level stores from the most recognizable brands to the hottest newcomers and unique one-of-a-kind boutiques drawn from all over the world. Additionally, The Palazzo will offer 14 new restaurants from renowned chefs, many of whom are not yet featured in the Las Vegas area," state press notes.
